    Can someone help with wiring?

Only if your going to use that harness, If you look at a factory wiring diagram you will see that wire connects to the battery. You have to have one wire from the alternator connect to the battery and it might as well be the one you have already in the harness. As far as the old regulator...

    300hp 289?

Are the 289 hp exhaust manifolds really that bad? I am beginning to believe the problem may lye in the exhaust. The 2" pipes have some bad bends in them that look like the I.D. may end up about 1.5". then at the end we have the wonderful GT tips with the louvers. On the intake side, as I...

    Can someone help with wiring?

Looks to me like the fist pic has the wires that go to the starer solenoid. They will all need to be hooked up. The bottom bunch by the bumper, you need to find the one that goes to the battery. I think it is the one that has a ring at the end but is only a single wire but not sure. Connect...

It doesn't make sense - vacuum advance

Something else is happening. If it is truely conected to ported vacuum not manifold, then the advance will have no effect. Check to see if you have spark at the plug. I think something is shorting to ground

    300hp 289?

Ok guys, This isn't my first time around the block. I have run 12.8 with a 289 with nothing more than a solid cam with 274/475 stock heads, No Porting, headers 1.5" F4B and a Holley 650. I know how to make power and fast E.T. The goal with this build was not as easy because of the self...

    Supercharged 67 Eleanor Convertible

Who's shop have you got this at? That is some first rate looking work. I'm not criticizing but just curious. Why the mod motor and not, say a 427 Windsor with a Paxton? It would fit better make about the same power. I went with a blue pearl base under the white, Love the look but photos...

    Subframe/frame rail replacement

Ditto on the stock rebuild first. Then add in the inner rockers. There are a Couple other ways to go. Mustangs Plus makes a chassis strengthening kit which is close to the convertible reinforcement set up. works great and really stiffens the whole car. I used Miar Racing sub frame connector...

dumb question but where do I place a floor jack

2+2GT hit the nail with the bottom chart. The cross member brianj5600 referred to was the thin round tube just behind the oil pan. You can not jack safely on any round surface! Just because someone gave you bad info dosn't make it right. That small thin cross member may or may not have what...

    300hp 289?

The goal here was to create a 300hp stock appearing engine. The heads I have, have in the past made well over 400hp in my 347. They are not the problem. 300hp would be easy if I did not have this self imposed limitation. Its because this is a factory GT convertible. I want to keep the...

    300hp 289?

Is the 14 degrees of mechanical advance at the distibutor or the crank? Which is double I think. I think my vacume advance is putting to much timing in. How do you ajust this?

    9" Rear Assembly - '66FB

The 8" pumpkins almost always crack where the pinion pilot shaft enters the bearing. The area around this pilot bearing is just to thin and it will crack with any abuse and then your pinion gets flexed by the ring gear because there is no support on the pilot. This is what causes the pinion to...

    300hp 289?

How much total timing should this engine have with the vacume advance hooked up and the initial set at 12 BTDC with the stock distributor? I have a Ignitor I installed to replace the points

    300hp 289?

I hear ya but, with the goal of 20 plus miles per gallon on the highway, I had to go to an overdrive tranny. I am concerned about power below 1600 rpm which is 60 mph with this gear and tranny. I felt that this cam would make power to about 5500 rpm. The motor seems to pull hard to about...

dumb question but where do I place a floor jack

That is correct, but the question was "Did the original jacks lift from the bumper or behind the wheels?" and the answer is behind the wheels, in the little notch with the original jack. The manual states that this is the only safe place to jack the car. The problem with floor jacks on a...

    300hp 289?

I just rebuilt a 289 with a goal of about 300 hp. The car is a 65GT convert and I wanted the car to look and sound stock. I also was building for low 20's as far as mileage was concerned. Car has 3.25 gear and T5 tranny Heres the engine: 289 block .03, 302 crank, C08 rods, boss windage...

Help with Power rack and pinion for 1969 mustang 302v8 power steering?

I have used the RRS rack in 3 differnt cars so far and feel it is a better choice for a few small reasons. Mainly, it uses Ford off the shelf tie rod ends, is simple bolt in install, and eliminates bump steer. It has proper ackerman angle built into it where some of the cheaper racks like...
