Your next mod after hitting >400hp should be upgrading the transmission to a t-56 or t-3450. The t-45 is fine for your average weekend warrior but wont put up with the everyday stress of more than 400hp.
I would defiantly go for the forged block, especially if you are trying to make it any where as quick as your old ls1. Overall the 4.6's are really reliable that is unless you are pushing 450 on a stock engine or in your bro's case running it w/o oil lol :)
I have heard of people using magnetic oil drain plugs, it is supposed to catch any metal shavings floating around in your engine. Does anybody make one of these for the 4.6?? If you own one, does it work well?
This is what I have planned to replace soon;
fuel filter
plug wires
seafoam it
new air filter
possibly set the idle lower
tps
clean throtlle body
Hopefully one of these will fix the prob. Thanks for the input guys!
thats pretty intresting, never heard of that before. I cleaned my maf a short while ago. I know that I should seafoam it but I am a little clueless about seafoam, I am not sure if i should really trust it.
I am a long time member of mf.com and just recently stumbeled upon this site, to be honest I love it:nice: and may be abandoning mf.com:D.
There has been one problem that has plagued my car ever since I bought it and the general concensus at mf.com is that it is the IAC (Idle air control...
Your lucky, I know of plenty of people who have stripped the threads on the head. Lets just say that replacing the threading on a head it alittle more involved than what you did:D
The worst car I ever owned was a 2000 Celica gts 6spd. I bought it with 35k miles on it, thinking that since its a toyota I will get 250k+ miles out of it...wrong. At 37k miles third gear started to grind like crazy, come to find out the syncros were a big prob spot for these cars. At about 39k...
No ****ing way!!! That sounds like the type of place I would want to work at. Better than the ****ty mainstream pop crap they play at American Honda:rolleyes: .
All the aftermarket parts on my stang are from am.com. I continue to go back there for a reason, they are fast, cheap and have by far...
No oil will give you noticeable horsepower gains, only added protection. A switch from dino oil 5w30 to full synthetic mobil or amsoil will only net you 2-5hp if your lucky...defiantly not enough to feel.
+1, The Mobil 1 filter is real nice (comparable to k&n) but for the $, I would rather use a motorcraft. Thats my usual setup...Mobil-1 5w30 and a motorcraft filter.
You shouldn't half ass it, go with a pi manifold from americanmuscle.com
Theirs is real nice and affordable, sorry for your misfortune, hopefully it doesn't happen to me :(
