Just Got Some Money Need Help Spending It

Well, you got options. The best bang/buck route would be to save up a *bit* more. Another 1-200 would give you enough to buy a camshaft, new springs, pushrods (~$350), and get a decent tune or chip (~200-350). You could just do the camshaft without a tune or chip, but you really wouldn't be...

    05 PRESS PICS AND MORE!!!!!!!!!

I kinda like the V6 too. Both of em look great, though. I see Electronic Throttle Control on the V8 picture. That's not good. :( Well, good for gas mileage (+0.2mpg, main driving factor behind ETC), but very bad for people who like to mess with their cars....

    84 vert proj car

I know it's not what you were asking, but build him the V8. Insurance is a concern (trust me I know), but I wouldn't be worried about the power. If he's going to drive stupid, he's going to drive stupid in either a V6 or V8. They both go fast enough to get him in trouble. IMO lay out some rules...

    Asking for help..

Good on you for trying to help him out a bit. :nice: Try to find the headlamp used from a wrecker somewhere. Or try www.stangparts.com. The body shop will just charge you for a new headlamp assembly from Ford, which I'm sure is crazy expensive. Is the bumper plastic actually...

Error Code P0172 System Running Rich Bank 1

Bank 1 = Passenger side. Because it's only one bank, I'd be inclined to check things like the O2 sensor wiring first, before you go looking at things like MAF that would effect both banks. The simplest explanation is that you have a bad wire somewhere from the O2 sensor (since you just...

    Thermostat question

Not that high. With a 160* it'll probably bounce between about 160* and 170*. May dip even lower at times, down to 155* or something.

    Thermostat question

You don't want to use a 160*. 160 is right on the edge of (actually slightly lower than) what's required to enter closed-loop. You do NOT want to be driving around open-loop all the time. Remember that lower temps does not equal better. Combustion is most complete, safest, and makes the most...

    2000 brakes

Is it both front wheels? If it's both, then you either have a misadjusted pedal, or something misadjusted or broken inside the master cylinder. You pretty much have to pull the master cylinder and inspect it to try to find the problem. If it's just one wheel, it's more likely a problem in the...

    pcv valve concerns

No oil on the valve covers. It doesn't generally breathe huge quantities of liquid oil, just the odd bit of vapor. That doesn't stick around. I smell it occassionally. It's worse when you have the AC on, but I rarely use my AC anyway. I prefer to just roll down the windows anyway.

It's all about position, my friend. :D

    pcv valve concerns

Neither. Put breathers on the valve covers, and capped off the upper intake the TB tube. Just keep your stock hoses around in case you ever need an e-test. You won't pass it if they notice you've deleted your PCV.

    2000 brakes

Brakes sticking? Ehh.. you don't see that too often. What's the pedal feel like? Has it gone all soft on you?

    pedal oddities

Here's the exact link. It's easy, takes about 10 minutes. I did it and I found the pedal position MUCH more comfortable. http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/99pedals.htm

    pcv valve concerns

It's not really the valve that's bad, per se. It's more that the design of the overall system is not particularly spectacular. Ford's fix was to use a new valve cover with slightly modified interior baffles. But yes, your car is in the 'potential problem' zone. That's not to say that every...

    Passing smog check...

Oh yeah, any place will have them. Go to Autozone or wherever and just get regular copper plugs. Platinums will last a bit longer, but IMO it's best to use plain copper and just change them regularly every 20k. Just ask at Autozone, give them the make of your car, and they'll be able to punch up...

Anyone have any opinions on SIRIUS radio?

Dunno about Sirius, but I LOVE XM. Extremely worth the 10 bux/month. Tons of stations, pretty good music, hardly any commercials, and killer audio quality. Pretty good deal for 10 bucks, IMO.

engine picture, how to get more HP?

That's right. CAI + exhaust will net you 5-10ish. Each one on it's own is good for no more than 5hp at best. An underdrive pulley is basically a smaller crank pulley. The smaller pulley turns all of your accessories (water pump, AC compressor, alternator, PS pump) slower, which frees up a few...

    Passing smog check...

You should be just fine. Although I would switch back to the stock program for the test. If you do a touch of regular maintenance before the test, though, you can greatly improve your chances of passing. Make sure your air filter is clean (replace it if it's not), change your oil, and if you...

    MAF Question?????!!?????????

Werd. :stupid: Do NOT mess with the dimensions of your MAF. It's very precisely calibrated and if you remove anything or alter its shape, you'll get incorrect readings. You MIGHT attempt to polish it, but even then, I'd be extremely careful to not remove ANY material from it. I wouldn't...
