OK, I have this 84 vert that I was going to drop in an old 302 carb motor. I am leaning more towards modding the V6 for my step-son. Mostly to restrict the power and reduce the insurance. I have procured a LOT of V8 parts which will now go back on ebay.
First, I have a complete uncut duel exhaust from a V8 GT-headers to tailpipes. Is there ANY way I can make this work with the 3.8 V6? Are there any V6 headers that will bolt to a stock V8 exhaust?

Next, this thing has CFI? A throttle body in top the intake. i suspect I should ditch that for a carb?

I was going to overhaul the motor and maybe get some heads and a cam but know very little about modding these motors. Oh, lastly, should I ditch the 84 V6 block for a newer V6 block or are they all the same?

Thanks!

I know it's not what you were asking, but build him the V8. Insurance is a concern (trust me I know), but I wouldn't be worried about the power. If he's going to drive stupid, he's going to drive stupid in either a V6 or V8. They both go fast enough to get him in trouble. IMO lay out some rules, and teach him to use the V8 safely and maturely. Who knows... he might surprise you. :)

Re the exhaust - I don't believe there are any stock parts that will bolt up (someone correct me if you know of any). You could just use stock V6 headers, and be able to use MOST of the exhaust system if you just have a shop fabricate you a couple custom pieces.

But build the 8. :D
