    Yeah I know, I paid 3500 for an 89LX. It's in good shape other then what I mentioned. I think it'll be around 1100 for parts and abot 600 for labour, :( but at least I'll know what I have when it's done. New axles, spider gears, crown and pinion, bearings and seals. I am going with 3.73 gears...

    Yeah so I picked up a used 89LX last week. I get it in to get the rear gears put it and find out I need axles, side gears and everything! Not to mention the oil pressure drops after the engine gets warm so it's going to need crank bearings as well in the not so distant future...

    I definately agree that war is not good. Understand however that it's the military's job to fight and yes to die. The motives may be unclear, but that's how war is, never is it a hollywood script with good guys in white and bad guys in black. Anyway, Harper or Martin, either way we get a bad deal.

    So should I go 3.55's or 3.73's? I want to maintain some hiway ability as well. I am leaning towards the 3.55's. I am going with 3.73's orderd today, car will be functional on tuesday.

    thanks, hey on the upside at least I'll know what I got when It's done. I was considering a junkyard rear-end, but maybe in the long run I'll be better off getting new gears installed.

    Gears are shot. I am so unhappy right now. There is also a bushing on the end of the tranny that's gone due to the vibration. So in all it's going to be close to a thousand dollar repair bill :(

    The vibration feels like it's centered in the shifter. There is no noise from the trans. and it shifts smooth so I don't think there is anything wrong there. I am getting the tires balanced, then if that doesn't help the driveshaft checked. Could it be in the gears? The previous owner had 3.55's...
