    tko500 or tko600

I've ruled out a t56 because even the wrecking yards want $1100+ for one with 100,000 miles. So now i'm once again looking at the tko500 or the tko600. The only real difference between the two is the gearing. TKO500 3.27, 1.97, 1.43, 1.00, 0.68, 3.00 TKO600 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.00...

Convert GM T56 to Ford T56?

If you were planning on upgrading to an sfi bellhousing anyway, it's not that bad.

Convert GM T56 to Ford T56?

hey, I've been researching transmissions trying to decide between tko600, gforce t5, and a t56. I was thinking t56 only because i might be able to get a used GM unit. After searching around for a while, I came across Mcleod part number 8750-06. It's a modular bellhousing that will adapt the GM...

    planning my engine, need help

Thanks for the input guys. That injector calculator was extremely helpful, and you've given me some things to look into. I've just been adding everything up (bad idea I know), and it looks like I probably should set my sights a little lower on the hp levels, at least for now. I still have...

How to change shift rpm points with a C6 ?

Shift Improver Kit - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury - '67-'91 C6 or Transpak - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury - '67-'91 C6 lets you manually shift the transmission and stay in whatever gear you want. doesn't say anything about shift points but that's the only thing i could think of. someone else will...

    planning my engine, need help

Ok, so I'm starting to plan and collect parts for a new engine to put in my '65. I'm in the fox section though because you guys know a lot more about fuel injection. I'm trying to build a 400+ rwhp all street engine, with efi, and room to grow. my current plan is... dart shp or boss...

Fabricating a stainless efi tank for my 1965 mustang

stainless doesn't rust. Are you going to put any baffles in it to keep the fuel from sloshing around too much?

    having starting issues, help!!

If the key is out of the ignition, and you connect the battery to the car and it attempts to start, I would say you have a stuck or bad solenoid. This would also explain why the car was still attempting to start when you took the key out. the simple and quick fix is to get a hammer and smack...

    Loud Fuel Pump

it sounds about right, as long as it's not making a rattling sound or squeaking or something you should be fine. The reason it's louder than on most cars is that most use internal pumps and the sound is muffled by the gas.

    Loud Fuel Pump

how loud? you should be able to hear an external electric pump.

65 Driveshaft Length Question - Photo attached

1" of clearance is usually fine. I wouldn't be too worried about getting the t5 to fit. Having a drive shaft shortened isn't too expensive ($50-$100 usually). You might be able to go 1.5" if you want to, but it would reduce the amount of spline engagement you have. This is the kind of thing...

65 Driveshaft Length Question - Photo attached

personally, i would just get the drive shaft to match what you have now. do you have a yoke you can use in the transmission? The way I've done it in the past is to slide the yoke all the way into the transmission, then measure from the middle of where the u-joint cap will go down to the same...

    Front end Bounce

that is weird. is the fender attached to the bumper like it should be? I would get it aligned and see if that fixes it, it's something you should do anyway. do you feel it more in the unibody or in the steering? It could be deathwobble, which is caused by too much toe in (or too little toe...

steer me in the right direction (engines)

I think much more than 400 rwhp might be overkill for the cars intended purpose. (of course I say that now lol). If i wanted more cubes I'd probably go with the cheaper stock block 408.

steer me in the right direction (engines)

the other issue for me is running the exhaust under the convertible. there are less options with the subfloor bracing. I saw a couple of twin setups that I liked, but they ran the exhaust through the wheel wells and then under, but I really don't think I have space for that. The only way to...

steer me in the right direction (engines)

Don't get me wrong.. Turbos are cool and they make a ton of power, but I don't see any room in there for a power steering pump or an air filter. unless that a ps pump on the top that I'm staring at.

steer me in the right direction (engines)

There were a couple of those brand new on ebay a few days ago. I don't know how well they work compared to the newer novi units. My guess is not as well, although they do have that cool old school look.
