    Dumps or Tips??????

I like the looks Sleeper. Where did you get the tails at without the whole catback kit? I ordered Flowmaster SS tails, but they aren't polished. I'm thinking about sending them back and getting some polished SS tails. Thanks Steve

    stock rockers with GT40 heads

The stock rockers will work, although I can understand your money crunch, I wouldn't run the stockers. I haven't in years. Check the classifieds for some good deals on roller rockers. The puchrods may or maynot work. Milled heads, etc. I was able to use the stock pushrods on my GT-40...

What is the wire on top of my tranny?? HELP please!!

The pigtail on the top left corner of the case is a neutral switch. The one in the center of the case is for the reverse lights (two prongs). The car will run without the neutral switch hooked up.

Putting heads back on with ARP bolts and..

I used their sealant and it leaked.... Ultra Black RTV for me since, altough we have this stuff at work that I may try for poops and giggles. It is called Leak Loc and is meant for HVAC stuff with temp ranges from like -100 to like 1000 deg F!

    Converting interiors

other than the dash, everything is a direct swap from 79-89. 90-93 uses three point rear seat belts. This becomes and issue if you want a black interior. Iswapped my 89 over to a 93 interior. Rear quater panels were differant, seat belts were differant (front and rear) and the rear package...

is an 86 shortblock the same as 87+?

The bottom end of the motor is still the same, just the pistons are differant. They are still forged, but like sleeper said they have no valve reliefs. They are a true Flat top. the TW heads have a differant valve placement and clear on the 86 block. Search on the Corral. there have been...

Those with long tubes, come in

If you have already bought the headers....Are they specific for an Auto....I had a set on a car that was for a 5 speed and they were mangled to death to fit the aod. Food for thought. I don't know if mac makes an aod specific header. I run BBK 1 5/8 longtubes and they fit awesome, but it is a...

Can I hit 400rwhp with my combo?

I wouldn't go with 3.89's if you are planning a blower in the future.....Around a 3.50-3.55 would be a good gear for a blown motor. 11's aren't gonna happen with slicks and that motor with those airplane gears....

    good setup??

rebuild or short block is up to you. I would look into the crate explorer motors (1500ish). They feature a good bottom end and good "P" heads. i personally hate anything that has MAC on it except the tools (differant company altogether). Get away from the 1 3/4 exhaust. You don't need it...

Thinking of getting a Roller 351

Roller 351...ahh. Working on a similar build for my classic. Look for any 94-97 truck or van. they all had the F4 roller blocks in them. they may not have the roller cam and lifters installed, but they are drilled for the spider and dog bones. The also have the deeper lifter bore to run the...

    289 performance?

A good 4bbl dual plane intake, a good set of headers, a decent cam and a good carb. I had a relatively simple combo that consisted of milled and small portwork 68 302 4V heads, with a crane blazer cam (don't know the specs off hand, but relatively mild by todays standards) A Performer RPM...

How hard is it to replace the clutches in a posi 9" rear by one's self?

it makes me wonder a couple things here... 1), why would some take the time to "rebuild" it and tear it down not to replace the clutches... 2) Why you car is not spinning the D/S. Nature of the differential says that will be the first one to spin... you are right in thinking it is the...

Freaky's Official Explorer and GT-40 intake thread. 56k, dont' bother

I have an EXP 2 intake on my 89 and leave the EGR plugged in. It ran fine, and i had no detenation problems, but then again my A/F ratio was in the 12.2 range. it still got pretty decent milelage though, it just wasn't optimal for performance and economy. I will have a chip burned to...

    19lbs enough?

Stick with the 19's for better driveablility, throttle response, and milelage. You'll be fine with 19's. My car ran much better with the 19's, but i never had it on the dyno with them to see what the A/F ratio was like. Of coarse, if you feel the need to step up to 24's, get a good meter...

How hard is it to replace the clutches in a posi 9" rear by one's self?

IDK about summit carring them, you can try to go to a ford dealer or search through a mustang and fords mag and maybe find someone that specializes in 9" rears. There is a guy every year at the huge all ford swap meet that I get all my 9: stuff from. Don't forget to get the 4 little springs...

Freaky's Official Explorer and GT-40 intake thread. 56k, dont' bother

The ones off your stock intake will work. that is what I have done on three of them now. the thread size is 5/16-18. I will get you a length for sure. That also reminds me to go out and measure the bolts for the upper to lower to add to the thread. I have a 1" spacer and had to get longer...
