Aluminum driveshaft=last vibration gone (long post)

No, I guess this could in "talk" but I wanted thread searchers to find a way to solve vibrations.

Aluminum driveshaft=last vibration gone (long post)

I bought a 91 Hatch with an AOD and it turns out it was not as good a deal as I thought. After I bought it I ran a carfax (I know, I know) and I was the third owner in FOUR months. The reason-previous owners had monkeys wrench on it-missing screws, broken bolts, scratches, nicks, just plain bad...

    Spring isolators

Thanks for the reply. Your point about them being less flexible/squishable makes sense.

    Spring isolators

Are polyurethane spring isolators thicker than the stock rubber ones. I've read that they raise the ride height by 1/2 inch. Is this because they are new, or because they are thicker than the stock ones? The reason I ask is because I have a set of FRPP "B" springs and they only lower the car 7/8...

    Do O2 sensors wear out?

Do O2 sensors wear out? Or do they work or not? I'm curious if its similar to a dirty air filter where they slowly degrade and a new one makes a difference. I'm curious for my 91 LX but also for 97 Q45 where the O2 sensors are $95 X4!!

    Weird Beeping

Locate the noise, if its behind the climate control cluster then its the airbag module. Mine beeped and it drove me crazy and when I installed a new gauge cluster I realized that the previous owner took out the airbag light bulb so when I installed the new gauge cluster WITH a airbag light bulb...

    Code 14 PIP circut failure

I've heard you can replace the PIP sensor (inside distributor) but replacing the entire distributor is likely easier. I had the same code and replacing the distributor fixed it.

BLACK INTERIOR CONVERSION PAINT JOB QUESTIONS?? HELP

I don't think seat belts can be painted/dyed. The plastic pieces need to be cleaned with soap and water, then with alcohol/similar agent and then sprayed with light coats. IF the plastic/vinyl is clean then it will stick like crazy, but scuff marks have to be touched up. I sparyed my grey...

"Noise vibration harshness" (NVH) opinions needed

thanks for all the replies. It sounds like it's not just my car and is inherent to the design. This saves me a lot of stress and money trying to make it perfect. Its important to have a baseline to compare it to. -Bullittandy

"Noise vibration harshness" (NVH) opinions needed

Carpet is new and is the type with the layer of rubber between padding and carpet. Good point on the struts and shocks, those are next on the list. I'm just curious if something may be wrong with MY car or is it "they all do that." This particular car was not very well taken care of and I'm...

"Noise vibration harshness" (NVH) opinions needed

I need other's opinions about how a Foxbody should "feel" with regards to Noise, Vibration Harshness (NVH). I've got a 91 LX hatch with an AOD that vibrates (slightly), makes slight creaking noises and is mildly harsh but I'm not sure if something is wrong with the car or if it's me. Car has...

    ACC hatch carpet question

I also just completed this project. I highly recomend an electric stapler for attching the carpet and using the proper tool to remove the seat covers so the plastic fastners do not break. As a side note, one month after going through all this work I replaced the seat covers with those from a...

    Good Cloth Upholstery Cleaner??

I think all cleaners work about the same. The key is expecting to make multiple passes on the seats. I sparyed my seats about 10 times before they were clean, the foam cleaner pulls dirt up and out so you have to clean them multiple times. Just my 2 cents.

VHT: School me on interior dye and prep

color change I sprayed my grey interior panels (plastic and vinyl) with grey vinyl paint from Advance auto parts. The color is very similar so scratches are difficult to see. Prep-I used a degreaser called "Purplepower" on everything and then wiped all pieces with acetone before spraying...

    Code 14, 22 Help! Sputtering!

1991 LX 5.0 Car was running fine, no issues. Then Checked codes, got 14 (ignition profile pickup) and 22 (BAR sensor) -Replaced distributor (code 14) -Replaced BAR sensor (code 22) NOW it runs worse! Bad idle, sputtering inconsistently while driving. Smells like its rich. What happened...

Warning Chime crazy! How to remove?

I've found the warning chime in dash that begins for no reason OR won't turn off. Its attached to a circuit board behind the A/C controls. What is this circuit board. Can I remove it? Should I just destroy the warning chime?

    Exhaust/Midpipe question

Update! Replaced the catco midpipe with a Mac offroad and the drone is signficantly reduced. Before it filled my ears like a fog horn, now its 75% quieter.

    Is it okay to cry?

Just bought a 91 LX 5.0. It had a small exhaust leak at passenger header-why? The midpipe was smashed from running over something, or so I thought. Replaced midpipe with MAC offroad. Fixed, NO! Pull off the midpipe and could see that it was not meeting the header collector well/cleanly. So, I...

    Exhaust/Midpipe question

I have a 91 5.0 LX Hatch with an AOD. It has BBK shorties, catco h-pipe (with cats) and a MAC catback. It drones something awful at 2K RPM. I have to replace the mid-pipe, which off road mid-pipe will reduce the drone. H-pipe/x-pipe, any particular brand? Thanks
