1st trip to track, now have gear questions

Here is my question, what should I do with the rear gearing? I have a standard T5 with 3.73 gears out back. 26" diameter ET streets out back. My trap speed was 130.63 @ about 6400 rpm. Problem is the tune is only good to 6000 because I start to float valves, but I had to push it. ET was 11.122...

5.0 installation in a grand marque question

I am helping with putting a 5.0 engine in a grand marque, my question is the throttle body, it is on the drivers side instead of the passenger side, the edelbrock intake will spin around for this but the brakets for the throttle cable are not in the right spot and the cable would have to push...

Overheating situation need a Wise person

Just a couple things I came across over the years...I've had coolant flowing in the radiator with the cap off, but the bottom 1/3 of the radiator was blocked up, have you had the radiator flow tested? Another thing I ran into was someone else who built a motor put the head gaskets in backwards...

    rear suggestions please

Had an extra 100# in the hatch tried tire pressure from 30 to 15 psi, heated the tires on the rollers and still spun. When I do go back I will have my ET streets on to help in that area, but if I only have one tire spinning I am worried about the same result.

    rear suggestions please

I would do that but in order to get the car tuned the tires have to stay planted on the rollers of the dyno! lol That is why I want to upgrade now before I go back. It was breaking the tires loose from the dyno rollers and I need to get equal traction back there.

    rear suggestions please

I had it rebuilt a couple years ago with 3/73 gears and all new bearings. This was the first pull on a dyno since I put the turbo on it. I knew right away the rear was going to have to change, just wasn't sure what to do with it.

    rear suggestions please

I thought about a detroit locker but the spool is so much cheaper. I drive the car on the street but it is far from a daily driver. Are spools really that bad on the street?

After all the problems the last issue is the fuel pressure regulator

no, he didn't really say. I was watching the a/f ratio on the screen through the rpm band. I should be going back in a week or so and I can ask then.

After all the problems the last issue is the fuel pressure regulator

I don't think it is mandatory, however I had my car dyno tuned and he appreciated the adjustable one and did adjust it on the dyno. With the pump change and injector change you may need it to compensate for those changes.

    rear suggestions please

I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for. I would like suggestions for a rear that will take a lot of HP and TQ. I went to have mine tuned and it was breaking the tires loose from the rollers at 4000 rpm and was over 500hp and 550 ftlbs of tq. I am thinking 31 spline with a...

solid lifter / roller lifter question

yeah, bit of an odd build up. So I just use a standard 302 solid cam/lifter set up and it will work fine? I know that the push rods will be different, I'll have to measure up for those when I have the cam in.

solid lifter / roller lifter question

Thanks for the response. Let me see if I can clarify a little. My brother has a grand marque that for his own reasons wants to modify a little, it has a 302 in it but the throttle body is mounted on the drivers side which limits upper intake options, that aside I have a motor rebuilt that was a...

solid lifter / roller lifter question

I have a question on a solid lifter motor that came out of a ford truck. will it work in place of a roller lifter motor coming out of a grand marque (87) with aftermarket heads? I will also be using 1.6 RR with guide plates. My assumption is the lash setting (0 lash + 1/2 turn) is the same and I...

    question on a comp cam

I know the heads are a little big for the motor. Due to the turbo kit I couldn't do the dart 347 this year, but next year looks good for that, so I decided to get the heads this year planning ahead a little for the new motor.:D so the cam should work well with the turbo then?

    question on a comp cam

Well I am getting ready to put the bottom end together and was wondering if the cam I have is suited to the combination. I have forged pistons .030 over, scat rods with 3/8 ARP bolts, trick flow 205 heads 42# injectors 70mm TB and a holley systemax intake.I run a T-5 5 speed. I am bolting on a...

what can I eliminate from the engine bay?

guess I will just relocate it then, I do park in the garage. I have an HP turbo kit coming and I know I have to remove the bracket it attaches to.
