    I even used the '65 parking brake cables on the older rear. The only thing I had to do to keep from being a true bolt-in was to get new U-bolts and re-drill my spring plates, otherwise it was the easiest thing I ever did to that car.

    Yes, everything else stayed the same. I replaced the brake lines, rebuilt the '57 drum brakes and sent it. Worked fine.

    I used a ‘57 wagon rear in my ‘65. Had to have the driveshaft redone due to larger u joints. Nice thing is it came with 3.89 gears.

    No kidding. Please post pics and details of your engine. I’m assuming based on your expectations that this is some sort of an unlimited class with no restrictions on heads, intakes, carbs or displacement. If that’s the case, you may be correct.

    I know some people are getting 600 from a 347 on boost, but I’ve never heard of anyone getting it N/A from 300 inches. But Ill reserve judgement because I know there’s some smart people with deep pockets.

    I've owned a Boss block that a previous owner ran with 289 heads and intake, so I know they're identical. Aside from screw in freeze plugs and 4 bolt mains, they're the same. Not worth the money either. Spend your money on heads and intake, that's where the power is made. Look up Richard Holdner...

    Yeah, I probably mis-remember the amount of preload. I remember it seemed like a lot but at the same time the clutch had never slipped under load and the throw out bearing is still alive. Now let’s see some pics!

    Yes, there's a guy in the FOX forums that told me the throughout bearings are designed to have like 15 lbs pre-load, which seems like a lot. But once I did mine that way, it quit making noise and has survived more than 6 years.

    Sounds like a noisy throwout bearing. Non-Ford OEM bearings can (and do) make a touch of noise when they're not loaded.
