    Rack and Pinion upgrade

Nope, I put less that 2000 miles a year on her. BTW - I have 17x8's up front. Will need the Arnold plan to beef up the biceps to steer. Running this large a tire probably need to bite the bullet and go power. Mike

    Rack and Pinion upgrade

Thanks for all the input. Randall didn't reply to my email. TCP has a booth at this weekend's Street Rod Nationals, looks like I'll have a long discussion with those guys. Mike

    Rack and Pinion upgrade

Rack and Pinion Thanks for the info Scott. What are the tradeoffs with R&P? You mentioned that it is not a complete fix for steering woes. My current steering is terrible, it constantly darts left and right. Tried adjusting the steering box and had zero improvement. All tie rods are new...

    Rack and Pinion upgrade

Hi everyone, Did a search on the subject but didn't find what I needed. Want to install a rack and pinion in my car, details below: 1965 Mustang Granada spindles V8 car - just replaced with 331 stroker Power assist with Eaton pump T-5 conversion using shaft linkage (z-bar) Tri-Y...

    REAR AXLE TAG CODE???

Got a hard copy of the decoder, no e-version. Could not find a listing for JES-F, but there is a WES-F, it is a 67-70 3.00:1 9 inch 28 spline rear end. All of the Ford axle codes start with a "W". The 2nd line is: 8LE - Date built (year, month, week) 933 - Plant code Hope this helps, MikeR

    Parking brake failure

Had to fix my '65 last year. There is a spring that applies pressure to a catch that fits into a series of slots on the handle rod that you pull out. Without the spring the catch mechanism won't engage. You will have to remove a few bolts and screws, then undo the cable from underneath the...

    Running no thermostat?

No Thermostat. One last thing, boil the 'stat before you put it in. I got two bad ones in a row last year. They wouldn't open up. As mentioned before, don't buy the cheapest one.

    What engine do I have?

Block casting number is behind the starter, you have to remove to read.

    Tranny Swap Questions

Can be done. I would recommend getting a complete kit with instructions, don't know of any shop manuals that show a T-5 in a '67 Stang. I did it the hard way and went with the z-bar setup, bought about a thousand little parts to do the conversion, definitely easier to go with the cable...

    Fan Shroud Question?

Engine too low Had the same problem on my 65. The engine sat too low in the compartment, had to add 4 spacers on each side of the mounts to get it up high enough to clear the shroud. Eventually went to the 66 mounts and raised the motor up an inch. Not sure how the 69 mounts are but see if...

    Anyone had this problem?...

Yup, when you turn the motor off the heat collects at the top of the engine. Coincidentally that is where the temp sending unit is. After you drive it for 10 minutes the coolant circulates and the gauge will drop down. Had the exact same problem, tried everything including new radiator, 6...

    Should I buy it????

Just say NO. Our GM bought and raced a Noble last year, spent more time in the shop than on the track. Major overheating problems. Everytime he needed a part it had to be flown from England. He put it up for sale and bought a Viper and is on the ViperRacing League. At least it's easier to...

5 Speed is IN and kicking!

Had to make a small dent to clear the starter and lower the power steering drop bracket another quarter inch, but fit great otherwise. Highly recommend, the sound is incredible.

5 Speed is IN and kicking!

The tach says 2300 RPM at 65 mph. 5th gear is 0.63:1, not sure what the regular T5 runs. I think there is a T5 option for a lower 5th gear. Summit Racing sells them new for $1,150.00. Not a bad deal.

5 Speed is IN and kicking!

Did not have to enlarge the shifter hole, but the driveshaft had to be shortened and balanced. Cost me a hundred bucks to do the work.

5 Speed is IN and kicking!

It's the Ford Racing Super Duty T-5 but has Tremac stamped into the case. The angles are the same as my old Cruise-O-Matic. Had to massage my bellhousing to accept the starter, but the tunnel had no clearance issues. I replaced the old '65 motor mounts with the newer design '66 mounts to...

Went with the manual linkage, wanted the original look, but today's performance. Mike

5 Speed is IN and kicking!

Just got my '65 Fastback with some improvements. Added a Tremac 5 speed and Tri-y headers. What a jump in performance. I installed a posi with 3.55's last year and saw a little improvement, but dumping the Cruise-O-Matic was the best decision yet. Had a little clearance issue with the...

    PCV Ticking?

Never heard of a PCV ticking, it does rattle when new. Maybe you have intermittent vacuum that is causing the rattle, shaking the little ball in there that stops any liquid from going into the valve covers. Is it hooked into the base of the carb?
