    t5 gurus, yet another tailhousing and shift fork issue

    Noone have any ideas? I got it to go to the 1-2 side once, but once I worked to 5th and reverse, it was back to being locked from the 1st and 2nd forks. Completely stumped, any ideas would be a tremendous help. There is this piece that looks like a snap washer goes on, can anyone commment?

    T5's and synchromesh are not a match made in heaven. Get that stuff out of the gearbox asap.

    A tune would probably be in good order. A lot of parameters will change on the computer for a proper 347 build that the computer probably won't be able to compensate for.

    Anyone ever took their sunroof latch apart? I did while I was replacing my headliner, and now I'm screwed and can't remember where the little spring, washer, and little plastic nipple lookin thing goes.

    Good harmonic balancer?

    I've heard good things about fluidamper, that may be the way to go. As a machinist in the good ol USA I try to also support other manufacturing in this country, rather than the crap I have to fix all the time that comes from china.

    The ford racing one that is oem like pushed the rubber out after only 3 years. I'd rather have a decent one that I won't have to worry about. It's a h/c/i/n20 and drag radialed car so she sees some hell from time to time.

    Can't help you on the switch on the top cover other tell you that you are correct on it being part of the neutral safety switch iirc. Side to side play on the input shaft doesn't matter, the splines in the clutch will hold her when shes in. The in and out play is what is critical. T5 rebuilds...

    Alright, 5th gear is in a bind in the shaft somehow. The linkage must not be in the right position. I assume I will have to pull the 5th gear synchro hub back off to get it out of a bind, as light force would not budge it.

    Alright, so the trans is almost assembled, but the tailhousing just will not take the final drive home. She stalls about a half inchish from being in position. Does anyone have any tricks? I've never had her put up this much of a fight before.

    2nd gear came apart was reason for the rebuild. I knocked the 3-4 synchro on a little further, and it's freed up but still no shim as of yet. Felt good though as far as endplay. Gonna try n see if I can possibly move it in a little further.

    I'd put money on a faulty gauge also. A simple oil change is pretty much impossible to screw up if your 10% mechanically inclined, and would be very unlikely to cause y our issue.
