What will 3.73s do for my '01?

Here you go: http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi That one allows you to compare different gearing.

Ideas I have to make our 96-98 Cobras faster that I never really see mentioned

If you're going to swap heads, go for 03 Mach I/Cobra heads with Mach I cams. The 03+ heads flow more air and more coolant as well.

    Chip

You can't go wrong with an SCT (SuperChips Custom Tuning) tune. The tune is flashed right into your car's computer through the port under your dash. For multiple tunes, they can hook you up with a handheld flasher that stores three different programs. They can also do neat things like turning...

    The way power is made!

Kick ass. So when are we going to see some time slips from this beast??

SCT tune by Aric @ Team Ford of Marietta

It shows the difference between the two runs at 4200 rpm, so you can see the midrange gains as well as the peak. I only picked up 6 hp at peak, but I got 17 at 4200 rpm. If you're curious, here are my dyno run files: DYNORUN.009 DYNORUN.012 And here's a link to the dynojet run viewer...

    Are These Dyno #'s Right???

Most people with your mods and a good tune are up around 320 RWHP. An aggressive tune for a naturally aspirated setup will have too much timing and not enough fuel for nitrous, though. If you want the best of both worlds, you might want to get a flipchip or an SCT tuner so you can change tunes...

SCT tune by Aric @ Team Ford of Marietta

I pulled 304/301 with these mods: Steeda underdrive pullies C&L MAF Flowmaster weldins MAC prochamber Since then, I've added/swapped: T56 transmission 4.56 rear MAC catted H The tranny/rear/cats dropped me quite a bit, as you can see from today's baseline, but Aric got most of...

SCT tune by Aric @ Team Ford of Marietta

The graph speaks for itself! Check it out: All that with a little tuning. If you're in Atlanta, and you need a tune, give Aric a call at 678-449-6871. He does SCT tuning, so you get a handheld flasher that holds 3 tunes, and you can switch between them.

    Are These Dyno #'s Right???

Is the chip custom burned? If not, your tuning is probably fubar with those mods. No off-the-shelf chip will straighten out long tubes and a MAF without being burned for them. Also, I assume you're running colder plugs with a smaller gap, and your timing is backed off for the nitrous, right...

    High Idle Q

Perhaps your idle air control valve is sticking. The IACV lets air into the intake manifold when the throttle body is closed. Try removing it and cleaning it out with some intake/TB cleaner (not carb cleaner).

Tremec and D & D both recommend a dexron III fluid. I've heard good things about Redline D4, but I went with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF instead just for convenience.

    Tranny rebuild advice

That's pretty cheap. I assume you'll have to take the tranny out and put it back in yourself?

My New Cobra had a Blow out

Even if there was a screw in the tire, that's no excuse for it flying apart.

    T56 Installed....

Congrats, Grappler. :nice: Sounds like you're as happy with yours as I am with mine. mwolson, I didn't even bother to wire my reverse lockout. I just give it a little shove. Combined with the fact that I still have the 5-speed pattern shift knob, the reverse lockout switch makes for great...

    99 cobra dyno'd low

You have a more serious problem than anything that could be remedied with a chip. Take your car to a different dyno and verify the results. Have them measure your air/fuel ratio. How many miles are on the car? Has all the routine maintenance been performed?

Found a surprise changing Ring & Pinion

As long as you've got it apart, you might want to consider swapping in a 31 spline carrier and upgrading to some 03 Cobra half shafts. Also ... 3.73's with a T56? I'm guessing you have a roots or twin screw blower on the horizon?

    T56 is in!

You and me both! It's great to be back behind the wheel after driving my old cherokee for a month. I noticed one more happy side effect of the swap: The gear shifter is a bit forward and to the right of the stock location, so 2nd gear doesn't knock cups out of the front cupholder anymore. Sweet.

    T56 is in!

It's aliiiive! After undergoing a radical drivetrainectomy, my 99 is back on the street. The tranny/gears: I upgraded to a Viper T56 from D & D performance. 1st and 2nd gears on a T56 are taller than a T45, so it takes at least 4.10's to avoid losing low speed torque. I went with...
