Project "Face Off": 1980 Mercury Capri aero to four eye Progress Thread!

I was gonna go that route with Bubba Chubb, but the biggest downside to satin black is that when it starts to fade and oxidize from sun exposure, you can't wax/buff it back to black again. So, ultimately you'll wind up with a satin charcoal gray car ... which isn't bad, of course, but just so...

Tailpipes rubbing on axle, anyone else had this?

The problem might be further up in the exhaust system than your cat-back. What kind of mid-pipe are you running? (What brand of X-pipe or H-pipe?) Problem could simply be the design of your mid-pipe. The UPR cat'ed X-pipe that I have was made an inch or two too long, so every time I have it...

T5 difficult going into gear when stopped

IDEA: To test to see if the pilot bearing is seized or sticking to the input shaft instead of allowing it to free-wheel, what if I were to put the rear wheels up in the air, put the trans into 4th gear, have someone hold the clutch in, and see if I can turn the driveshaft? If it won't...

    fluid advice

    1. Regular plain ol' DexIII/Mercon ATF for your transmission - don't bother with that "high mileage" crap, and synthetic is way expensive but doesn't really do diddly for benefitting your transmission; 2. Type F transmission fluid seems to work a tad better than regular power steering fluid in...

Project "Face Off": 1980 Mercury Capri aero to four eye Progress Thread!

You're more than welcome to have any of my leftover Gloss Black Rustoleum after I paint Bubba Chubb this weekend, if you wanna paint that hatch and wing to match... :D

    town car 5.0 in mustang

True. If you've already got a bunch of the parts laying around from an HO motor to put in there and you just need it for the short block, then I'd say go for it. Otherwise, yeah, it's pretty much a lot of wasted time, money, and effort. Usually, it's the non-HO guys trying to put an HO motor or...

T5 difficult going into gear when stopped

Sorry. I searched threads going back a couple of years and didn't see any threads detailing any symptoms close to what I've described above. Had I found an answer in one of those threads, I would not have started a new thread. I've checked the above as best I can without physically...

T5 difficult going into gear when stopped

Hmmmm ... never thought of that. I previously installed a steel input shaft bearing retainer when I did the clutch job, and I lubed the shaft (giggity) with regular wheel bearing grease. Since then, there's been a time or two that I mayyyyyyy have driven through a bit of a wash...

    town car 5.0 in mustang

Panther body cars (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Town Car) used 16-pound injectors, same as the Fox T-bird/Cougar/lo-po 5.0 Mark VII cars. The HO cam, E7 heads, and Fox 5.0 ECM make 19-pound injectors mandatory. The intake manifolds are also slightly different, and the lo-po 5.0's used a...

I like. :nice: Is it actually mounted, or just sitting on the hood for the pic?

T5 difficult going into gear when stopped

I thought about putting in that Lucas stuff when I did the last fluid change, but I wanted to be sure that I wouldn't have to just drain it right back out again if I needed to pull the trans for any reason. I don't think adding the Lucas or switching to a thicker fluid would solve the problem...

T5 difficult going into gear when stopped

I've had that problem with an aftermarket cable before this, but that was definitely a case where you could feel the clutch not catching where it was supposed to. Actually, the cable I had before was beginning to snap and was just hanging on by a couple of threads when I changed it out for the...

T5 difficult going into gear when stopped

Been awhile since I've had any issues with teh Notch, but now it's being fussy again ... and my tags are coming up due at the end of July, so I need to get this working right before it's time to get on the smog dyno. :( Before everyone reads the thread title and immediately starts yelling...

Anyone know how hard it is to do a tune up on an '04 Santa Fe?

This is why cars like Hyundais and Kias are throw-away vehicles. When it comes time for them to finally need a full tune-up, or anything other than little stuff like tires or wipers, the cost of the labor and parts for repair is so absurdly high that hardly anyway will wanna dish out the money...

anyone else getting the annoying floating survey ad here on SN?

I just had that ad a minute ago, too. Soon as people figure out one way to disable pop-up ads, some butthole decides to come up with yet another way to force advertising in your face. I know these sites have to find ways to pay for their stuff with sponsorship, but come on ... pissing off...
