Emissions Question - Are Cobra tank and/or Cobra fuel pumps 50-state legal?

What I meant was, if I bought the procharger kit with the 42lb injectors, and then replaced those with 50lb injectors, would that be 50-state legal. I see that I wasn't clear, so I edited my original post.

Emissions Question - Are Cobra tank and/or Cobra fuel pumps 50-state legal?

Hello, If I get a 50-state legal supercharger kit, such as the Kenne Bell 1.7L or the Saleen Series V, and then add an 03 Cobra gas tank and/or 03 Cobra fuel pumps, would it still be 50-state legal, as long as it passes the sniffer? In other words, do the emissions inspectors visually...

2V Question: Kenne Bell 2.2L versus Saleen Series V (2.3L)

By the way, I found out that Birdieman4 didn't wreck his S-281-E. A Ford dealer wrecked it: http://www.mustangforums.com/m_656360/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#657286

2V Question: Kenne Bell 2.2L versus Saleen Series V (2.3L)

I'm trying to figure out how Birdieman4 got 550 rwhp out of the Series V. Are you saying that it was because the S-281-E had headwork done, and because someone ported the Series V intake? In other words, are you saying that the Series V intake manifold is exactly the same as the Series IV...

2V Question: Kenne Bell 2.2L versus Saleen Series V (2.3L)

I finally focused on the Saleen forums, and that helped, because I found out more info on the Saleen Series V blower. Here's one guy who claims to have run it at 18 psi and 550 rwhp (scroll down to Birdieman4 reply): http://www.mustangforums.com/m_503061/mpage_1/key_series/tm.htm#503853...

What SC would you buy if money weren't an issue?

I'm leaning toward the 1.7 KB or the Novi 2000, because I live in Cally. Otherwise, the 2.2L Kenne Bell. Or the HP twin turbo: http://turbochargedpower.com/ or the MPH twin turbo. Either way, I'd have to move out of California, I guess. Or, if I REALLY had a lot of money, I'd...

2V Question: Kenne Bell 2.2L versus Saleen Series V (2.3L)

Hello, I was wondering how the Saleen Series V supercharger compares to the Kenne Bell 2.2 L, for 2V Stangs. They are both twin screws, and they are approximately the same size. One thing I like about the Saleen Series V is that, theoretically, it seems like it should be 50-state legal...

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

Thanks, Jakes! That gives me even more confidence in the KB! :nice:

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

Yeah, I'm also thinking that I care much more about my rwhp on 91 octane, and less about my rwhp on 100+ octane, because a lot of states (Cally) only offer 91 octane at the pump.

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

The more I think about it, the more I think I'll go with either the 1.7 or nothing. I want to be legal in Cally, and I don't want to have to remove the 2.2 every time I get it emissions-inspected. I'd like to see how the 1.7 is, before going to the additional expense and hassle of getting...

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

Really, the KB has trouble in hot weather? What kind of trouble?

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

Yeah, 400 rwph on 91 octane and 9 psi on the street, and 500 rwhp on 100 octane and 14 psi at the track, is a crazy amount of power. I'm wondering if the 2.2 would get 400 rwhp on 91 octane and 9 psi on the street (with the same torque curve as the 1.7), and maybe 600 rwhp on 100 octane and...

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

I think I see the plausibility of your argument. If the 1.7 and 2.2 are both run at 9 psi and 91 octane, then the 1.7 might have more torque in the lower rpm ranges, because the 1.7 is optimized to run at 9 psi and 91 octane, while the 2.2 is optimized to run at 15 or 20 psi and 100 octane.

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

Hmmmm. You're making a good argument for the 1.7. If the 1.7 would perform better at low rpm than the 2.2, then maybe I should get the 1.7. And, of course, the 1.7 is Cally legal, and the 2.2 is not. And, if the 2.2 would cost a lot more than the 1.7, even with the stock short block...

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

What's an "ACT"? After Cooler Temperature? The reason I'd like the 2.2, is so that, when I finally do get a forged short block, I won't have to buy another supercharger. Do you think that it would be difficult or impossible to pulley the 2.2 so that it gets 400-425 rwhp on 91 octane?

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

I've got the aftermarket hood. What I hope to do, is to install the 2.2 with my stock engine. I'll use a large pulley, so that it puts out about 400 horsepower on pump gas. Then, when my engine dies, which hopefully will be 10 years from now, I'll get a forged short block, and then crank...

KB versus Novi 2000 - which is better for cold weather, cold startups?

Thanks, 2000! Sounds like the KB doesn't mind cold weather. I think I'm going to try to get a 2.2, somehow... If not, then a 1.7 for sure.

Will I pass Cally emissions with low-compression crank/rods/pistons?

Thanks, Hop! So I guess there are at least 5 good places to get a KB dyno tuned in the L.A. or San Diego area: 1. Swanson Performance - www.swansonperformance.com 2. Chicane - Joe 3. Powertrain Dynamics in Huntington Beach - Steve 4. www.dprsocal.com - Shawn 5. Superior Auto in Orange...
