    I'm sure if I tell them who to use, they won't warranty it, so I'll have to cough the extra dough for a rebuild. They're also clients of my wife's so I need to maintain a good relationship. I was just wondering if going new would be a better deal.

    They want to sell me a rebuilt for $975. I see a new Super Duty T5 is $1295 + shipping at Summit Racing. It's in my '91 convertible which will probably never see any track time. What do you guys think I should do?

    We had an MSD "ready to run" (no box) distributor fail in one of our '69s. It didn't quit running completely, but ran really badly driving the 200 miles home from Roundup in Bellevue last month. We put a stock points distributor back in, and all is well.

    I don't think it's as critical if you're using a stock bell housing, but I think the stamped steel bell housings can vary a little more.

    I dialed the Lakewood bell on my Nova several years ago. I had help from a good mechanic and it still was a PITA. We used the weld in dowels and as I recall, it involved some luck to keep them in position when finishing the weld.

    I managed to get them installed by sanding them down, and then using a vice to press the gear assembly back together. I probably should have just bought a new motor to begin with.
