Can you get 8 or 9mm looms that will clip onto a stock valve cover?

I need some real help here...got mold in my interior....

That sucks! Be careful the EPA doesn't condem your car! If you could get it to Arizona for week before summer ends I'd bet youo could kill it. Otherwise I'd say total disassembly is the best solution.

    Lifter Ticker

Which one? #1 is the shortest but not that short (not sure on exact measurment) But what's up with that variable resitance on #4? I'm not enough of a sparky to understand how a wire can do that. Given the ohm ratings I've seen on "performance" wires I'm thinking they are all higher than should be.

Hey Ozsum2! I'm back at this one again. Now that the manifold/ported advance mystery has been solved (right) :rlaugh: . Seems that issue is up there with religion, politics or GD&T. Anyhow I tested resistance on spark plug wires, read on a 20k ohm scale 1-14.4 2-11.75 3-11.6 4-12.5...

Stereo in the glove box pics?

It's totally unseen with the door shut. And no I haven't had any success with the remote through the door, but it will be handy not to reach over for adjustments. Other than to open and close the door. I'm pondering the idea of trying to rig a fiber optic line to it. Don't no if IR travels...

Stereo in the glove box pics?

All right here's what I ended up with. A few scrap brackets from the junk box and a universal face mount kit. The lower photo shows the strap supporting the back end. Seems pretty solid so far and sounds much better.

    Vac advance, ported or manifold?

Right you are, I should get off my posterior and get one today. As for springs, yes that's part of the equation but, The mechanical springs don't act on the breaker plate. They act on the shaft cam. Springs don't control the total, just at what RPM it happens. Right? Now maybe the springs are...

Distributor - Hard to remove/HARDER to install?!

Ah yes, control. We all want to believe we're in control ;) All I hope for is keeping Murphy out of my garage most of the time :D As for the 289, you'll have to pardon the Old Chevy guy here. This is my 2nd Ford and my 1st was when I was 16, young and stupid. My Chevies have a tounge in...

    Vac advance, ported or manifold?

The diaphragm is adjusted to the minimum amount of travel it can apply to the breaker plate. It's gotten to this point by trial and error. I need to get a vaccum pump some day so I can get a bit more scientific about this stuff.

    Vac advance, ported or manifold?

Thanks, but the engine has about 500 miles on it at this point. Don't think it's had time to make a carbon problem. But thanks for the old school tricks reminders. I'm sure most of my issues are due to the "boutique blends" of crap gas we get forced down our throats by the EPA in Arizona. I'm...

Distributor - Hard to remove/HARDER to install?!

The dist will drop in far enough to engage the teeth bofore the oil pump shaft comes into play. Same thing by hand or not. I agree control and finess is an issue but you won't jump a tooth. Maybe if you don't hold it down while rotating the engine. That's why, unless you have a helper it's real...

Distributor - Hard to remove/HARDER to install?!

Why not use the starter? How is human-mechanical imparted rotating motion different than electro-mechanical?

Stereo in the glove box pics?

Correct, IR is line of sight. The stereo guy said he's had succsess through the glove box door though. I'm skeptical but we did do a few tests in the store holding a solid object in front of the display unit. It seems it may work but not 100% of the time. I took the chance, the unit was $75 more...

Stereo in the glove box pics?

Wow! Supersize pics thanks! I bought the Alpine CDA-9827. It's the cheapest model that comes with a remote. It also comes with other stuff the cars driver(my wife) really won't care about, but you might. It does MP3's, XM ready, CD changer control, 3 pair RCA outs. I love the Alpine I put under...

Distributor - Hard to remove/HARDER to install?!

Keep at it, it will drop. You'll probably have to bump the starter a bunch of times to do it, One of those remote start buttons comes in real handy for this. I just recently did the same thing and thought it would never go back in. It's all about getting the hex socket on the end of the dist...

    Vac advance, ported or manifold?

I don't know about Lman, but that helps/validates things for me a little. Getting back my original question after all this input, I'm thinking the manifold "vac retard" approach is probably flawed thinking. I'll try backing off the initial and adjust idle settings from there until I can find the...

Stereo in the glove box pics?

Done and done. Tapes are still cool by me, I have lots of them. 300+ vinyl records too. I only laugh at teenagers with bus benches bolted to the trunk lid and coffee can performance exhaust tips or dozens of stickers from manufacturers parts they don't have. :bs:

Stereo in the glove box pics?

I'm yanking the POS in dash stereo an putting the original radio back in. I've got an Alpine deck to stuff in the glove box. Does anyone have pics of clever ways to do this in a 65-66?

Maybe your master cylinder needs those residual pressure check valves?
