Any brand of timing chain better than the other, I figure I will bit the bullet and change it. My oil pan gasket is leaking a little and it has been at least 5 years, according to the guy I bought it from, since they were changed.
+1 on the heater core but I replaced that last January. Looks like a fun afternoon ahead for me. Good idea to change the chain while I am in there, about 70K on the motor or should it be good for awhile?
Recently I have noticed that the temp of my car has been going up to 260-270 when idling or city driving, it will go down to 200 when on the highway. I noticed over the last month that the coolant in radiator keeps going low (which I am guessing why the temp is going up). I tried runing the...
The tiny pieces coming out is not a good sign. When I had a cooling problem with fluid draining out I could not find any leaks or problems so I took it down to the shop you do a head gasket test which turned out ok, but what was happening was the radiator was rusted on the inside and the tiny...
Could be the input shaft (common problem with AOD input shaft will break since it is a two piece shaft) or torque converter(might be stripped out), I am pretty sure the lights should come on, if I am wrong someone correct me.
Does the car move backwards in rev and the lights just don't come on. Also did the mech. say what was wrong with the tranny. Sometimes you can get a rebuilt AOD for 300, at least locally for me. Mine might be on its way out (making SHHH sounds when shifting at high rpms)
It could be the radiator (clogged so water flow is no good), fan (not providing enough cfm), or thermostat like you said, if you are running the stock 190, I have heard that 210 should be normal.
If you mean the throttle cable, you will either have to get a gauge to set the cable correctly or have a shop do it mine cost about 50 when I had them do it. As for as the switch it is up you which tranny you want. With an auto you could do a shift kit, stall converter, etc. or if you like to...
Carbs are not my forte but with my 69 mustang it was finky about the start and idle mixtures sometimes I had to adjust it two to three times a day to keep it running. Carb place said it was fine but who knows the car is gone :D. Could be an air leak somewhere causing the mixture to be off.
What should be the normal temp? Here in Phoenix where the temp get up to 115 in the summer my car runs about 240-250 but it could be the gauge sometimes it will be 270 and then go down to 200 when the coolant starts flowing at high rpm.
I agree with bullitt, I was getting 11mpg with my setup. I changed the O2 sensor last week and now I am getting about 16mpg which I think is normal for this setup. That is a combination of normal and WOT driving with mostly street driving.
I drive 10 miles on the highway and maybe twice a week so I dont drive the car that much. I wanted to get that "pull to the back of the seat" feeling that I miss so much.
I got the 23 code to disappear, TPS was at 2.4V adjusted to .85. The EGR was measuring 5V and adjusted when the plunger went in and 5V at the EEC. The check engine went off but will go off for awhile and then come on and then go off. I am think that there a short somewhere. Any suggest on...
