    Back to stock build thread

FINALLY got my pilot bearing changed out tonight. Transmission is installed now, the rest of the project should go pretty quick. The goal for the weekend is to have everything except the exhaust finished up.

Help Me Pick My Combo (HCI etc)

I'm going to be selling/parting out my engine once I get this stock 5.0 running. ;) It's not professionally built but it is set up for a blower.

    A post a day......

Yep got the tool and it doesn't work because some idiot modified it with a grinder.

The rebuild kit didn't come with new spring clips, which I lost one of, so I had to order a new set. Arrr. Hopefully it will be here by friday. I got everything reinstalled on the output shaft up the 3/4 slider. After closer inspection I found the front of the output shaft is blued and has a few...

    Back to stock build thread

Made a little progress over the weekend. My rebuild kit showed up today so I hope to have the T5 back together tonight or tomorrow. My goal is to have it running this weekend.

Another try 351w in 94 simply

    2. Stock Cobra ECU should be fine as long as the MAF/Inj are matched. With a stock 351, the Cobra's 24# injectors should be fine. Of course a tune is recommended but probably not required at this point. 3. The 96 351 should have the correct distributor for our cars. I used one from a 96 F-150...

Oh that one is discolored from a bearing running through it. I already ordered a replacement for that one. :)

What gears are blued? Will that hurt anything?

    Back to stock build thread

Got the transmission almost completely apart. My snap ring pliers I bought for this job couldn't handle the snap ring so 3rd gear is still installed. Everything looks good other than the input shaft/4th gear. Even the syncros are in good shape. The counter shaft made some noise that I didn't...

Nope I want a dedicated street car that can get driven on the track. :) The 03 Cobra is essentially just a different engine in the same chassis, but there's a lot of little changes that make it much better, especially for a street car. They do have heat soak problems, but that's mainly with over...

See I have the opposite happen to me. Every car show I go to my car is mostly overlooked. Even at Mustang Week last year I only had maybe 10 people talk to me about it. Most people just walk right by and stop at the stock car with chromed out everything. I do agree about how the car looks...

    Back to stock build thread

The 03 Cobra couldn't be more different than my car. Power wise they were very close with my car being equal to about 500rwhp in the Cobra due to lighter weight. The Cobra has a high tech small displacement factory supercharged engine, decent gas mileage and good driveability, 6-speed, IRS, fuel...

    Back to stock build thread

I'll drive it probably til the end of summer, then I might sell it. I'm debating between an 03 Cobra or wait a year or two and get a new 5.0. I'd also like to put a turbo on this car, but I just don't think I would trust it to drive several hours to a road course and beat on it all day without...

Adam, I was planning on selling the stock headers after I get the car running. The studs are broke, but other than that they look ok. Ryan, I'm selling pretty much everything that I take off the car. Going to try to sell the engine complete, but I'll part it out if I need to.

I have an AEM and that improved the driveability a lot, but the problem is consistency. The car will run perfect for a while then an hour later it's bucking again. Combined with exhaust leaks, oil leaks, and a touchy throttle I finally decided to just get rid of it rather than fix all the problems.

Had a problem with the bell housing for the TKO so I need a T5...Probably going to try to rebuild my old one this week. The bell housing was off by .017 and the dowel pins were stuck in the block. :bang: Got the engine set down in the car. I'm wore out so I'm taking the rest of the day off...

    Back to stock build thread

Yeah it was a tough choice, but I just don't enjoy driving the car anymore. As nice as the car is, if it's no fun to drive then what's the point? I'm definitely gonna miss this engine, but it'll be nice to drive the car more often. :) Made some decent progress last night. I drove it one last...

    Back to stock build thread

I've been trying to improve my driveability for the last couple years and I finally got fed up with it and picked up a stock engine. The plan is to drive it the rest of the summer then I'll decide what to do next. I've put so much work into this car I hate to sell it, but I really want something...

    New to mustangs

There's really no point in changing out the cam if you still have stock e7 heads. The stock cam is pretty good for mild setups(~270rwhp N/A), only problem is you don't get that nice lope at idle. Just my opinion, but I would go with at least a set of gt-40 heads and a cobra/gt-40/aftermarket...
