I've officially decided to go turbo on my 68

Argghhh....351W w/ stroker + turbo = broken block. Well built 427W Dart shortblock from ADP >$5000. Take the add'l weight of the dart block, weight of turbos, weight of intercooler... And then my friend reminds me he has a 460 sitting around in the shop. Hmmm...stroker kits are out there...

anyone interested in a new watts link and a 3 or 4 link in here

Thanks Mike...and hopefully, the pre-order crowd will see a bit better price??? ;) ???

I've officially decided to go turbo on my 68

What keeps causing me pain and heartache is the block: it seems that if I'm going to go $2000 for a block, it just doesn't make sense not to go totally psycho with the whole package...but man, that can get really pricey in a hurry. A 351W w/ stroker crank and decent rods/crank just looks to be...

EFI: Super Victor and throttle body

THAT is an offer that I may need...I am REALLY struggling to figure out what I'm going to do w/ my 2 classics. I have a KB 2.2 that [obviously] has to be injected, but I am pretty seriously contemplating a turbo system. I've been learning about the blow-through carb approach, which is...

AN OPEN CHALLANGE -- Suspension Competition!!!!!

I will grant you that provides a measure of transient handling, at least on dead-flat pavement. Then again, NOTHING can compete with the slalom time of a Honda CRX...so there is more to it. But you are correct that this does have a bit more 'real world' applicability than simply a skidpad...

New issue of M&F (Ring brothers and JBA)

But the ALL TIME WORST was putting those HUGE headlamps into the 'vert that they built. Looks like the car has hyperthyroidism w/ full bugeyes! They do good work...but I too am not thrilled w/ their taste on all that they do. None-the-less, I am quite pleased to see more RestoMod cars...

I've officially decided to go turbo on my 68

Agreed...it needs to be a workable and RELATIVELY pleasant car to drive...until the boost is cranked up. I had a lengthy conversation w/ Brian [ADPerformance] about 3 hrs ago. We were discussing the relative merits and problems of different setups. In summary, I think that a Dart Sportsman...

Help spec out a Reenmachine track day car...

That Ford "345hp" turns out to make NOWHERE NEAR that power...so it is NOT enough! STrongly recommend a different engine approach. The key issue to me comes back to the issue of suspension...and that's why we are focusing more on my 'vert[as it will never be a handler...but having the shock...

I've officially decided to go turbo on my 68

Nah...pressurize the system, and air will flow wherever it has the least resistance. Once you have a few psi pushing, flow should all find "the path of least resistance"! And I would likely run it 'upside-down' so even at lower flow, there will be a tendency for the hot charge to rise. My...

I've officially decided to go turbo on my 68

I took some measurements, and have found the beast that is needed: This looks like just the ticket for a >750hp setup...and it is the right shape. Some trimming of sheetmetal is needed, and I'll have to notch the back of my GT350R lower valence. Next: do I go to something more stout...

AN OPEN CHALLANGE -- Suspension Competition!!!!!

Simply measuring a lateral g-force is not any real measure of handling! Hang HUGE rubber and keep the tires planted in a circle => high g-force...but that doesn't tell you anything about what happens in non-steady state conditions [ie real driving/racing]. There are a lot of cars that can...

anyone interested in a new watts link and a 3 or 4 link in here

Excuse me?! ~$3000...when a full rear suspension kit for a late model from EVM is $1325. Granted, shocks and springs are not included...but how do we get to $3000? I would sincerely appreciate an APPROXIMATE cost from EvM...before I order the Watts link. RRS pricing is ridiculous, so I'm...

AN OPEN CHALLANGE -- Suspension Competition!!!!!

But even this statement is overly vague: daily driving...meaning what? disc brakes are necessary. Better camber curve is CLEARLY needed... ...but, for example, compare the camber curve and effect on handling for the RRS struts vs. a simple Shelby drop + roller perch, for example. Add a...

I've officially decided to go turbo on my 68

Just saw your Q. If you are asking about the rear-mount, a smaller A/R is definitely useful on these cars. I have a .81A/R w/ a GT4067 turbo which does quite well. I am giving a LOT more thought to a turbo for my 'vert. Those missing shock towers are just CALLING OUT for turbo[s] and...

Help me finish up this beast

Drive...do you guys actually DRIVE your old Mustangs??? I am confused! I haven't driven the '66 in >20 yrs. We started resurrecting it 2 1/2 yrs ago. Hope to actually finish it this year as we're back on it again.

Made a custom console and sub enclosure

HA! I am not going to have ANY trouble with my subs: going to run two 16Ov.2 from Elemental Design. They will be nestled within the rollbars [each seat has it's own rollbar] and about 12" behind the two seats! A very nice advantage to not having a back seat to worry about. Convertibles...

Made a custom console and sub enclosure

Not a fan of square subs...just not a great design, despite what their marketing will tell you. Otherwise, your work is GREAT!!!

Might have found EFI fuel tank solution... from strange source

I am installing a fuel cell in the 'vert, and will need a good bit of pump as the car is blown. In tank works well, and even swapping to a bigger pump isn't that tough. Given what I'm doing, we are going to try to work with a surge tank and go from there. What a pain! Carbs sure are a LOT...

    best remanufactured engines

Except the bare aluminum Dart block is $4500 bare! That little fact led to my starting the highly controversial thread about swapping an LS2 engine into a classic Mustang. You can buy a very nicely built 408 forged aluminum LS2 shortblock for less than $4500... Those World crate motors and...

    A wiring revolution

I first came upon this when looking at some kit car boards...and it really seemed interesting. I don't know if I have enough wiring needs on my '66 to do this or not, but when I clicked on Edbert's homepage, I was struck by all of the work he had put into his wiring. That is the key: what...
