    Speedo doesn't work

If you have a GPS you can set it for mph. I told my old buddy to do that and he will never fix his speedo now...

Overheating issues solved for $0 on long trip in 86GT.

This is a "Ford problem" that just turning the radio up didn't fix. Usually stuff just falls off ending issue. I got home and Henry smiles from his tomb. Gotta love Henry.

Overheating issues solved for $0 on long trip in 86GT.

This post is helpful from foureyed site. Might fix issue? That sounds like the dash ground is loose, or is otherwise not bonded well to the dash hull. The blower motor grounds through the same point as the gauges. The fix for that is also free. The dash ground is on the top side of the...

Overheating issues solved for $0 on long trip in 86GT.

Driving home 1100 miles from where I bought this 86GT AOD Conv twice the temp gage spiked to full hot and so I immediately pulled off the road and shut it down. Everything seemed normal and I could even touch the radiator so it appeared to be an electrical glitch. I had all ready deduced not a...

So I got a replacement two days ago, be gentle.

That's why they invented platinum plugs (really a factory install) as you have to lower the engine somehow to get at the back two plugs every 50k miles or so. Otherwise they are a really fast car that handles well. Still one of my all time favorites but too cheap to ever buy one:nice:

2011 V6s are gonna piss me off I know it

I priced out a 2011 V6 with the handling package, etc. and had to upgrade to the deluxe basic to get what I wanted on the car like bigger wheels. It came to $28,800 + tax + $500 dealer prep with my AMEX discount. Nearly the base price of the GT. So I just bought a clean 86GT Conv instead...

Does 86 GT AOD Convertible have an Inertia Switch?

Yes there is the actual 'fuel pump relay' under the driver's seat for all FI models from 84 on but that is not an inertia/kill switch normally in the spare tire hole or left rear fender trunk area. Thanks.

Does 86 GT AOD Convertible have an Inertia Switch?

The 86 is a stock EFI = first year for that multiport unit. Like I said maybe he missed it? At least I know for sure to look in the trunk two places when I get there.

Does 86 GT AOD Convertible have an Inertia Switch?

Does 86 GT AOD Convertible have an Inertia Switch? ANSWER YES!! I'm 1200 miles away from a stock 86 GT 5.0 AOD convertible my brother just bought for me and there is no owner's manual. I checked all over this site (searched three sites) and cannot find any information specific to the...

    83 5.0 A/C DELETE

On my 82 I used a Power Steering relocation kit (moves into AC place) which required a bone yard factory aluminum cast piece costing $50, abolished the AC system entirely (saving a ton of wt), abolished the air pump (no idler pully), abolished the stock auto tensioner, got an adjustable billet...

Backfire that just keeps getting worse?

Here's a new thing to check. I found a mechanic who actually likes old fords and has a factory scope. He took the time over 3 days and burned up 1/2 tank of my gas driving it to unravel the two cylinder miss under load "mystery". A PO had replaced the plug running from the computer to the...

Backfire that just keeps getting worse?

If there is a plastic position sensor on top of the EGR it might be bad. I replaced mine on my older car and it fixed the EGR issues and backfiring at WOT. Cleaning the three MAP sensor posts and putting dialectric grease on fixed that code issue too. New MAP sensors made the car run worse...

    Another smog pump question

Smog pumps are Really really cheap/exchange at autozone, advance. Delete pulleys cost 3 times that to what end? A 15 minute job. They are guaranteed and you don't have to remember what size belt you need. My original pump lasted 21 years. I don't think it'll need to last that long this time.

86 LA Stang Vert Door trim questions...

It is on my 84LX and also probably on the 83LX. If your car is merely a toy glue it (double sided body tape) or screw it. If you have a perfect example and want to keep it stock go to the aftermarket fox guys. There are lots of them out there. OR Take one of your clips to a body shop...

Help! HUGE disappointment at dyno 324 Hp and 372 FT LBS. torque

I had a very "invisible crack" in my rotor that caused my car to carbon up the plugs very quickly and run poorly. Ended up having to tow the car home before finding the actual problem which I (and 10 other motorheads) misdiagnosed at the race track.

were can i find a a/c and smog delete kit???

It was only $20/exchange to get a rebuilt smog pump (when mine seized frying the rubber belt which cost even more) compared to $100 for the "delete kit" so I kept the pump which takes 15 minutes to change is all. It can't possibly take all that much HP to spin the low volume airpump? You can...

How do I remove convt mouldings?

NO they only fit 83-85 as far as I know. 86 might be the same? 4 piece sytem. The black pot metal is brittle for the quarter windows and it is held at the rear under the back 2 piece moldings with a rivet which has to be drilled out or you will break off that corner. Under the front lip is...

    Fuel pump?

You really ought to put a fuel pressure regulator in line. The newer pumps can overwhelm the carb. Only need about 5psi to work properly. Check on the Edelbrock website for that unit's rated psi. Look for a vacuum leak.

new starter, new relay, new problem

So you are saying you didn't mount the starter to the engine? The mounting is the ground to complete the circuit. If you have it laying on the ground it won't complete the circuit. You can test the starter off the car by using your jumper cables. Careful it has alot of torque. Or you can...
