Does 86 GT AOD Convertible have an Inertia Switch?

Does 86 GT AOD Convertible have an Inertia Switch? ANSWER YES!!

I'm 1200 miles away from a stock 86 GT 5.0 AOD convertible my brother just bought for me and there is no owner's manual.

I checked all over this site (searched three sites) and cannot find any information specific to the Convertible - only the Coupe and Hatch. I even have awesome pix of both those car switch locations but nothing for the convertible.

My brother cannot find one in the trunk. But he just might have missed it? It isn't a problem at the moment I just want to know for my pending 1200 mile drive home next week.

My 84 LX 5.0 AOD Convertible CFI does not have one. Never did. So that leads me to believe they all don't after finding nothing.

Thanks for your indulgence.

There is none on my 86GT convertible!!

Yes there is the actual 'fuel pump relay' under the driver's seat for all FI models from 84 on but that is not an inertia/kill switch normally in the spare tire hole or left rear fender trunk area.

Thanks.

I even found an original owner's manual that says there is supposed to be one and where it should be on the driver's side trunk hinge but there isn't one!! Just like my 84CFI. NONE.

You are wrong unless someone has removed it and rewired around it. It is installed in the area stated but is not easy to see unless you are looking for it. I didn't think my '84 CFI coupe had one either until I had fuel pump issues recently and had to locate the inertia switch in order to diagnose the exact problem I had.....I've owned my coupe since 1985 and have replaced most of the parts on it at least once myself so I am very familiar with it.

I will admit when I'm wrong and I did finally find it!!

This is ALMOST embarrassing as when I stood on my head to tear apart the trunk liners there was a small hole right in front of me with a little white button!! Apologies for my lack of perseverence but it wasn't where the manual said it would be!! After thought?

THERE IS AN INERTIA switch on my 86GT Convertible!! Sorry for misleading anyone. Need new bifocals like the commercial!!
