Fox New PB, finally got into the 10's!

I appreciate the compliments. Keep it up, this was a 13 second car when I bought it. I copied text from another post above to answer your questions. "Thanks man. It's a stock block 331, 10.7 compression, Afr 185's, HSII with FTI cam cut for naturally aspirated performance, nitrous was never...

    Fox Rockers coming loose

I don't believe a bad cam would cause them to back out. Did you use the procedure I listed to tighten them? If you do it with the valve open, the valve springs and the spring in the lifter will absorb some of the torque load and give you a false reading. Joe

    Fox Rockers coming loose

Mike makes a good point. Are the bolts physically backing out, or are the rockers loose? Joe

    Fox Rockers coming loose

If putting back exactly as they were with no other changes, such as different push rods, lifters, cam, head gaskets, etc., then you should tighten each rocker arm while the cam is on the base circle, meaning valve fully closed. This will mean that the engine needs to be rotated several times to...

    first time 331 build

Plan for the little stuff, it will add up to be more than the big items some times. -playdough to check ptv clearance -assmebly lube if doing the engine yourself -thread sealant for lower head bolts or studs -right stuff for dealing the China walls on the block where the intake sits -new water...

    first time 331 build

Never heard of that company. My short block is similar. It's a stock block machined locally. I put the engine together using a Coast High prebalanced Scat rotating assembly. It has a scat 9000 cast crank, scat 4340 I beam rods, and probe srs pistons. The bottom end was assembled with arp...

    Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

The machine I use is much the same way. He has done two jobs that were "toy" jobs and one that was a DD repair. The toy mustang jobs took months, the DD repair he turned around in 3 days. He knew it was important to me as far as work and family goes so he pumped it out quick. Hopefully all...

Fox New PB, finally got into the 10's!

Sounds like you have a little more of everything. If your 60fts dropped into the 1.4x range, you would be easily in the 10's. What do you launch at?

Fox New PB, finally got into the 10's!

I think I should have played with the progressive more vs. upping the jetting. I probably could have brought it on immediately and shortened the ramp a few tenths, I think that could possibly buy me half a tenth, maybe even a full tenth on the big end. Joe

What do your 60fts look like? That's a healthy combo with that trap speed n/a.

Fox New PB, finally got into the 10's!

Thanks man. It's a stock block 331, 10.7 compression, Afr 185's, HSII with FTI cam cut for naturally aspirated performance, nitrous was never in the picture. I think this is why I have to be careful with my timing, lots of dynamic compression, but Ed said I should be fine up to the 150 I...

No, haven't checked it. Its whatever the stock A3M adds to the base. I think that's 18 degrees, so 24ish total? Joe

Fox New PB, finally got into the 10's!

After 2 botched outing with the nitrous setup, I finally got success. 2 previous attempts to go 10's (actually 6's) were made at 2 different 1/8th mile tracks. 100hp jetting with 4 degrees pulled the last time out, and after reading the plugs pulled 1 more for safety. Tonight I went to Steele...

    351?

The link you posted doesn't really provide any info about what has been done to the block or what parts are included. I would shy away from it. A properly aluminum headed 351 should make 500hp without trying too much. That same motor with a turbo should well exceed 700hp without the help of...
