    Full-Length Subframe Connectors (Opinions)

Pick the ones you like. Any frame connector will work great, as they are all very similar in material, and mounting points. The torque box reinforcing plates are a good extra but not really necessary IMO unless your drag racing the car. But every little bit helps.

    AOD troubles....

Yes, jaymac is right, the Overdrive band is shot/burnt. Common problem with these trannys. So save up for a rebuild or auto replacement, or maybe a 5spd conversion.

new clutch fan, now loud whine

You sure it's a OEM thermal fan clutch vs a non thermal? Non thermal will make more noise, generally. If it is a thermal one, I'll agree on the posts above.

    Guys with AOD's

When reading the dipstick, Always read both sides and go with the lower level as the actual. If you want to save the time of dropping the pan, I got a siphon ball and hose from the parts store and sucked the fluid out, a little at a time till I got the right level. You want the fluid level to...

    Help with oil leak...

After going through all of that, even head gaskets, I'm surprised you didn't change the valvue cover gaskets. Yes, these leak as well. If those aren't the problem, then I'd look into the lower intake gasket again, and make sure you have that sealed correctly. The 5.0's also have a tendency to...

    AOD vibration/OD gone?

The TV cable or Throttle valve cable that comes off the transmission and then attaches to the underside of the throttle body is what gives you the correct pressure when you accelerating, but for the symptoms you described, the vibration and high tach readings, could be as easy as a bad...

    Mystery part in tranny pan

Ratrapp is right. It was used to plug the dipstick tube hole to keep dirt out, once the tranny was instaled into the car. When the dipstick tube was installed and the dipstick push into the tube, the little plastic piece got pushed down into the pan when they filled it with fluid, and then...

Anyone with a higher mileage AOD?

Mine started giving me a problem with the 3rd to 4th gear shutter around 130K. Overdrive band was smoked. I had the trans rebuilt by Level 10 at that time and currently have just over 200K on the current trans, and it's still running strong.

Why do I have to start my car twice?

Things to consider, Battery charge, alternator, (charging the battery enough?), battery cables clean and in good consition, contacts, plugs, wires, clean throttle body and IAB, how old is the oil, fuel filter, and use the other suggestions above. Start with the simply things first.

    Headlight switch problems... need advice

Same thing happened to me last month. The parking lights wouldn't go on, so I would bang the dash and they would come back on. Even had the switch out, moving the iwres around until I had a connection. I ended up taking the plug out of the switch and saw that one of the wires was melted into...

    Tie Rod Ends - Quality?

Sounds like you answered your own question. I replaced my ball joints with greasable Moog parts a couple years back and loved the way it helped the handling. I plan on driving my car forever, so the extra cash was worth it for me.

    Bad AOD

I don't think anyone would use the converter again, so $25 to get rid of the case? I think that's fair, instead of having a big paper weight in your garage. I think it would be tough to sell it for any more, but you never know, try it.

    100k+ mi 302/AOD having PROBLEMS! :(

Check the firing order of the plug wires. Maybe you got a set crossed. What did he do to the car before this happened? Could be fuel related. Did you scan the EEC for codes?

Decrease in MPG with addition of 255lph pump

Maybe you bent the float on the fuel sending unit when changing the fuel pump, making the gauge read a little lower. Plus by measuring MPG based on the guage isn't a very accurate way to do it. Fill up, mark the mileage, then run to half tank, fill up and mark the mileage. Take the miles...

sub frames, do they really work?

Definitely worth the $150. Makes the car seem like it is on rails in the turns. Once you drive it, you think you have a new car.

    Aod Question/Problem

Nothing you can really do, unless your prepared to get up under the car and inspect it and possible remove the trans for inspection. For you, I would advise getting the car over to a local competent performance shop or transmission shop to go over your problem. Transmission problems that are...
