    Reading the spark plugs

I probably will change it. Arizona's no place to have marginal cooling. And I'm not expecting much difference with the clutch fan. Except a little bump in mileage hopefully. I changed the plugs out for some platinum Autolite 45's. The parts guy says that 45 is the coldest available in that line...

I don't know how much depth you're lacking, but there are installation depth spacers available. A good auto sound shop should have something. I used something like that to make a mount in my glove box. You can see it here: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=494743...

    About to buy a 68 Shelby GT500

Scam for sure I asked for pictures and received this: Good evening, As the seller, I would like to take a moment to personally thank you for your interest in my 1966 Shelby. I know that you have many choices on eBay and I appreciate your business. First you have to know bidding is...

You did allright. you paid what it's actually worth. Hopefully it will last but the odds are against it. The Kenwood models out there are about $85 un modified. The the non Kenwood CAS stuff is way overpriced flea market quality stuff. I've got a Kenwood one for sale on Ebay right now. Not a...

    Reading the spark plugs

I think the radiator just isn't up to the task. It's a "high efficiency" 2 row (jumbo tubes) but it just can't handle job. Even at highway speeds it's pushing 210f. In traffic it climbs from there. I actually pulled it and had the shop check for clogs. It had a few but not much. I put a Gano...

    Reading the spark plugs

Hmmmmmmm, yep I've seen these pics elsewhere before. I'm thinking I better get this cooling under control before I start chasing my tail on plug heat range and carb jets. But too lean would be my last suspect, I think this carb is doing what it should (it had better for the money spent at Pony...

    Reading the spark plugs

Ok, but the funny thing is I've actually got the timing dialed in finally. I was battling some "ping" before but it's under control now and the plugs looked good at that point. I am having cooling issues though. I think it's a low capacity and insufficient air flow problem there

    Reading the spark plugs

So I've been fooling around with ignition stuff in search of a smoother idle. I upgraded the wires to 8mm and added an Pertronix Flamethrower coil. I regapped the Autolite 45's to .040. After maybe 150 miles and much fiddling with timing and carb adjustments and not much success, I pulled the...

    Cold spark plug, cold engine?

Physics, Shmisics. I'm no Physicist or a Physician even, and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night. Just a common sense gear head. And my common sense agrees with your Physics, so I'll take your word for it. Don't grade me on spelling either :D

So how much of a heat range change did you make?

    Cold spark plug, cold engine?

That's what I think, but this guy claims same conditions, different temp Who knows?

    Cold spark plug, cold engine?

I was reading on another list about one guy's claim that a colder heat range spark plug actually dropped the operating temp of his engine. Never heard that one before. Can anyone else back up his testimony?

    Odometer setting

You betcha! I've done the due diligence. Replaced the cable while redoing the car, the gear looks fine. I'm going to have the original speedo reworked. The local experts say after 30+ years they tend to get sticky.

    Odometer setting

Take it apart..............Doh! why didn't I think of that? Thanks, that's what I did and it worked, eventually. What a PITA getting all those dials reset and lined back up to install. All that and the new speedo still has a bounce. Time to have the original rebuilt $cha-ching$

    Odometer setting

I've got a new to me Speedo that reads 0 miles and I want to set it to show the current mileage of the one I'm replacing. I need to add 22k + miles. My drill runs about 40 MPH. At that rate it would take nearly a month 27/7 to do it. Is there a way to take a shortcut? Please spare me the legal...
