    I agree with the testing. Worst thing on a battery is not to use it. Once you get it going again, get a battery tender that automatically monitors the battery voltage and then just monitor the fluid level monthly.

    The only way to know the battery is good is to take it to a local chain parts store for a free charge and condition check. That sounds like the issue, a weak battery. Sometimes a bad battey will still not work when jumped.

    Not sure how the wiring attaches to the instrument cluster but I would consider pulling it to check all the conections. Also, try letting the car idle in the drive for the time it takes to drive that mile....that might clue you if it is movement or current overload that causes it to fail.
