    Maybe a set of 20" wheels will help you :D I would drop the oil pan and check to see if you have any play in your rods or if they are hitting on something, like the dipstick or what have you.

    Thanks ... :nice: Looks like the rears are inset a little bit with the ranger axle/drum setup. I imagine with the SN95 stuff or equivalent out back it would bring your wheels close to flush with the fender lips. That extra 1.5" (3/4" per side) track width does wonders for appearance :nice:

    Well it depends which Holley carb you are referring to ... the 650 double pumper with mechanical secondaries is a good carb and will provide more fuel with the secondaries open compared to the Edelbrock units (which supports making more power). However the Holley vacuum unit is a throw away...

    Yes, a rubber mallet works better than a shoe :D Just stand it on end with a thick piece of cardboard or such under the end and tap it in with a rubber mallet. Try to tap it in relatively straight as it will align itself as it burrows deeper into the hole.

    Right, but the cam is not supposed to ride directly on the bearing ... That's why you coat it with assembly lube ... so it will have little friction/scuffing until the oil pump can take over when started. Those bearing had a thermal barrier coating applied to them and they aren't made of...

    For the uppers you want to retain the factory rubber bushings on the diff side of the arm. When you load the rear with power it wants to pitch forward. The rubber bushings in the diff ears allow it to flex, where as a stiff bushing doesn't flex as much and increases the stress on the torque...

    I wouldn't .. you could damage the cam bearings if it is a snug fit .. you're supposed to dowel it before slidding it into the block. Ps - Why is the A/C still on the car anyways :shrug: :D

    If it's the rear seal do you think that's gonna stop the leak ... In which event you can always pull the tranny and put a ****load of RTV on the seal too ;) :stick:

    Since you are going to retain the stock '84 heads it might be wise to just buy better valve springs to handle a new cam without the possibility of the springs binding or floating when revved. Then we start getting deep into your budget. Unfortunately for everyone on this site $500 bucks...

    But being an ass is soooo much more fun ... I didn't see anywhere that he said he has a vert :shrug: Swapping from 2.73's to 4.10's with a shift kit and convertor "can" net you as much as a second faster times.
