    Why upgrade the alternator?

I didn't have problems with my 2, but one day it died. Made 'er about 20miles home off the battery. How did i know, i smelled burning electrical and the charge lamp came on. I'm not a fan of replacing things with stock parts when i could get a good used 3g at the junkyard for cheap. I...

    Wiring a stereo..not in a mustang..Help Please.

Alright guys, thanks for the help. Turns out the jeep harness has 2 wires for illumination, one for panel illumination and one for LCD illumination. Apparently i was using the wrong one. Don't ask me how, but that was keeping it on. Deck is an older JVC, non Mp3. All figured out now, thanks...

    Wiring a stereo..not in a mustang..Help Please.

Not to sound ungrateful guys, but the hacked up harness isn't really what im asking about. I'm more interested to know how and ACC power feed could stay on with the key off, with the stereo hooked up. The only thing i can think of is maybe the deck is set to some demo mode where it stays on...

    Wiring a stereo..not in a mustang..Help Please.

Nope. Definitely not. The Yellow (Batt +) wire on the deck is receiving 12V at all times. The red (ACC +) only has juice with key in Run and ACC, that is, until i plug in the deck. Then the ACC+ seems to magically have power all the time! I can't figure it out.

    Wiring a stereo..not in a mustang..Help Please.

Hey Guys, First off, i'll start by saying, i've installed numerous decks and systems in cars and trucks of different makes before. Never had any problems. But here's a new one for me. Vehicle, 1989 Jeep Cherokee Problem? Deck will stay on after key is shut off and removed. The...

    Runnig Rich when warm

I'd suspect the ECT or O2 sensors. Sounds like when it gets into closed loop (warmed up) that's when it goes rich. I'm sure you can test the ACT to see if it is range, if you go to fordfuelinjection.com i think he has some charts comparing ambient temp to resistance. There are guys on here...

    World JR Heads...

Well as far as stock numbers i found this site http://www.allfordmustang.com/Detailed/630.shtml Compared to a AFR165 they don't really stack up. The guy says these are polished.. I can't see them being that good..comparing them against a E7 they are no better on the bottom end, a little...

    World JR Heads...

Hey guys, whats the word on these heads, I can pick up a set for 750$, assembled with 1.90/1.60, comp valve springs, comp guides and ARP studs. Has 1.6 roller rockers and hardened pushrods. Would these heads be good for a street warrior which sees the strip a few times a year? Guy says...

    '86 Rearend question

Gotta hate it when someone thinks they know something and won't listen to a bunch of other people telling them they're wrong. If your car is 86 + the 8.8 will have the traction-lock. Ford denoted the T-lok on tags with an "L" as mentioned before. Maybe you should pop your diff cover, if...

    Going to 3.89 gears..speedo gear?

Thanks for the input guys. jrichker : That would be the ideal solution, but I'm not worried about the stock speedo being calibrated that precisely. And for the price, its not in the cards for me (student). 91 HATCH: Thanks for providing the formula. With your formula, my setup wold be...

    Going to 3.89 gears..speedo gear?

Hey Guys, I have a set of 3.89 richmond gears for my 87 GT. I see speedo calibration charts which show correction gears for 3.73s, but not 3.89s. I am running 245/60/15s on the back. Since 3.89 is only about 4% greater ratio than 3.73s, and I have taller than stock tires, do you think...

    Odd Start-up on 87GT

Smog pump is still in. As well as the factory H with cats. Not sure how well it works though, no smog tests around here. I assumed the codes were unrelated to my problem. Ill have the clean the IAC and see if it helps, problem is it happens intermitantly so its hard to see right away if the...

    Odd Start-up on 87GT

jrichker, Do you think that a dirty IAC woulkd cause my problem? I don't have a problem with it surging at all, and since it is spring loaded to the closed position, it makes me believe that the computer is causing this quick rev when i fire it up. I will pull it off and give it a clean...

    Odd Start-up on 87GT

It hasn't chnaged due to the weather, just random startups it will happen. Basically, it sounds like i started it with my foot on the gas, it instantly spikes to around 2500rpm upon firing, then a second later will drop to normal idle. Could this be a TPS going bad, it never does anything...

    Odd Start-up on 87GT

Hey Guys, My stang is a 87 GT. Bone stock. 180000kms. Engines runs great. The car is a daily driver, no problems to speak of. Every once and a while, when i fire it up, it will rev up to anywhere from 2000-3000RPM and hold for a second or 2 then drop to normal idle. Most of the...

Where do I get the little metal things that hold the headgasket in place?

Doesn't make a difference whether you use studs or bolts. The bolts don't locate the head in the exact place it needs to be. The purpose of the bolts is to clamp the head down to the block. The purpose of the dowels, is to locate the head. It's what a machinist would could, a...

Where do I get the little metal things that hold the headgasket in place?

You're not talking about the dowel pins are you? Those are for locazting the head to the top of the block. If you motor was assembled with one missing thats a bad thing. You should be able to get some from the local engine shop.

Engine running rich, bucks when coasting/slowing down, lack of lowend power post-swap

Maybe start off by pulling the codes. If it's running as bad as you say, its probably going to throw some. It's actually kinda nifty how the computer can tell you what's wrong :nice:
