    thanks for the replies. The manufacturer of my kit says the orange/black wires make no difference and it heats up because lack of a ground??? any input on this?

    the stator wire is the white one, right? Yes i have done that. Someone told me that PA performance said its ok if the 2 orange/black wires are connected??? So it doesnt matter or what? im confused lol

    Thanks for the replies. My headers are sealed up fine, its not an exhaust leak. Its kind of like metalic/chainy type sound, it sounds like a metal chain dragging on pavement when it pings. I have a spare 5.0 liter motor, so im going to pull the timing pointer off of that and put it on my car...

    I know i should set the timing correctly, but i also know it is in the ballpark. The reason for the question was because it didnt ping before i parked it for the winter and before alternator swap, and now it does.

    Yea, ive heard PA is good quality stuff. The ebayer claimed the alternator was from the same place that PA gets their stuff, but i seriously doubt it. It doesnt look the same as the PA one and there are no tags or numbers or anything on mine, its gereric.

    Yea, i guess i could still use ebay, but with more caution. This was a quality kit, and even came with an alternator test sheet, but who knows where and what brand it really is. I tried to save a bit of money on a less expensive kit, and this is what happens. You get what you pay for. :nonono:

    Just saying be leary of ebay alternator kits. I bought a 3G kit and everything looked good and shipped quick. Installed no problem, but the alternator went out after 10 minutes of driving! Then there was a conflict between the seller and I, and now im out money and I have to get the alternator...

    Mine melted the wires too. Turns out i had too small of wires powering the fan. I switched them out for a thicker guage wire and all is good now.

    If your looking for the best spark plug wires out there, get Livewires from performancedistributors.com. They are expensive, but i know i wont ever need another set of plug wires again.
