    idle situation

Well I'm an idiot, found that my O2 harness was not connected and I'm not sure why that was. Plugged it in and it idled at about the commanded idle. Just a little off, but probably because of the small cut I made in the IAC. And it runs much better now too - LOL go figure (now that it's not...

    EFI swap question

:nono: DO NOT rewire the harness, just get a new cam. The ECM does not know you switched a cylinder from bank 1 to bank 2, so when the O2 sensors give their readings they will report off (either saying it's too rich or too lean). Thus the ECM will try and compensate for thinking its running...

temp & fuel gauges not getting power

I checked it once more, 1 side is 12v, the other bounces from 0 to 5, 4, 0. Guess it is the culprit - though you would figure the gauges to read something with it bouncing between those values.. found this writeup...

temp & fuel gauges not getting power

can't be the ground, i hooked up a positive wire (12v) to the hot side of the gauge and it came on. Replace the top-left blown fuse in my fuse box and it's still not working.

temp & fuel gauges not getting power

'66 Mustang coupe Some time ago my temp & fuel gauges quit working. Checked for voltage at the back of the cluster and I'm not getting anything at the fuel gauge (or temp). Ran a 12v wire from the battery to the fuel gauge and it started rising. So I tested for 12v at the CVR on the...

    idle situation

How do you adjust the throttle valve ? I'll try and get another IAC, suppose that is why the car dies with the IAC connector disconnected?

    idle situation

Yeah I set the idle in the tune to 1500 and it barely idles at 1100. Throttle valve? (that the TPS?) I do see the TPS is off, it shows .89 at idle, and I remember something about it needing to be .98 since i'm using the QH - that means I don't have to set base idle with spout disconnected and...

    idle situation

I haven't many miles on my '66 EFI yet as I'm trying to get all the bugs worked out. When I start my car, I have to give it some gas to keep it running until it reaches about 110-130° and then it'll idle on its own at around 800-900 rpms. Okay, so I go to the surging idle checklist and find some...

    3G alternator conversion

Yeah, there's quite a few things and it is becoming a concern having too much stuff coming off the back of the ignition switch (like EFI, and what you mentioned). Please keep me updated on your progress, that sounds like an interesting idea! I'm not going to modify (cut) the fan yet until...

noob question: effect of differential on wheels

Sounds like an open rear end, no posi-traction or tracion lock if only 1 wheel is turning.

    3G alternator conversion

It appears to be working just fine, it's now charging at 13.3-14 volts (13.3 when warm) and holds steady. Think before it was charging at about 12.2 which probably means my battery is on it's last leg. Bought a $13 volt gauge (temporary solution till I can rewire everything) and installed it...

    3G alternator conversion

I installed the 560 ohm resistor and found that same 904 Green/Red wire by the voltage regulator. It's just raining too much to continue, but I'll get that connection spliced tomorrow hopefully. (thanks for confirming that too! :nice: ) Not sure what AWG wire I am using, it's actually the one...

    3G alternator conversion

Yes - that's the wire. So it splices into a blk/wht wire where the voltage regulator is on the radiator support. I see i need to get a 560 Ohm resistor - which one did you end up choosing? And do I have to get a 4ga wire going from the alternator to the fuse block ? (post 6 from your link)...

    3G alternator conversion

I apologize, I have the "A" wire running back to the alternator per another diagram I found. (one that goes to B+ terminal) I'm trying to figure out the wire labeled "I" on the alternator - where it goes to. What colored wire goes to the ignition switch?

    3G alternator conversion

Picked up a Tuares 3g alternator and I'm finally getting around to converting, though I have a couple of questions. Got the pulley off of both, and as a shim I used the 1G alternators lock washer and then put on the pulley and torqued it down to 77lbs. Is 77lbs enough to satisfy safety...

unable to pull codes - new FR harness

66 mustang coupe w/302 EFI... it was originally an inline 6 but one of the previous owners threw in the '80 302 carb'd block. Well, let me find/price a new ECM - hope that'll help clear up the 42/92 codes I was getting. (tho I was hoping the new harness would've taken care of that first lol)...
