    9 in housing

My boss has a 9 in housing that he wants 50 bucks for. He said he has a set of axles that he would get rid of too and I think that he said that they are 28 spline. Now it is a small bearing housing too. What kind of cost would I be looking at to build it? What gearing should I be looking at for...

Is it possible to remove drip rail channel on '66 mustang?

I cut mine off. If you are wanting to keep them I would just sand blast it the best you can and fix your problem areas. If you cut them off you are going to have to reweld your seam since your roof skin and the door frame are held together with the gutter. I actually bent sheet metal to cover...

what all do I need for this welder to convert to mig? and other welding questions

you need a special gun to weld aluminum with a MiG. I bought a TIG for that purpose but it is a little out of most peoples price range.

what all do I need for this welder to convert to mig? and other welding questions

If you are going to try to weld in a mustang II front end and have no experience welding I highly recommend you practicing welding on some scrap metal for a while. You dont want to have a bunch of cold welds that are going to break loose the first time you take your car around a corner. I too...

Has anybody done a 289 roller lifter conversion?

the machine shop that has my block suggested that we do a roller sut up. He said there is a kit that goes in a stock 289 block that doesnt require machine work. This route would be alot cheaper for me than him machining the block.

    modding shock towers

Dennis that is exactly what I have seen in the past. That is one of the ways I have considered doing this mod. I know I will have header probs with the headers I am putting on the car. The headers that came with the car rubbed. As of right now that is how I will go or I was thinking of a C...

    modding shock towers

I have no plans of using the mustang II suspension. I just wanted some ideas on how to cut my towers so they dont look like poop. I was already planning on installing the Monte Carlo and export brace before I start cutting and welding to keep everything close to aligned.

    Other Ford related problem

I was on a site a year or so ago that is called explorerforums.com IIRC. You wont get a fast response out of them but you could give them a try. By the way what problems are you having?

    Sandblasting at home

I used the large tank blaster from HF and did it in my garage. It made one heck of a mess and that was with me draping plastic around the car. You will need a good air compressor. I have a 60 Gal and it was no where big enough. I spent more time waiting for the compressor to fill. If I...

    Workshop Welder

I have a lincoln MIG and TIG and I use the MIG for most all of my fabricating. TIG is alot harder to use and you have to have the surface area so much cleaner for a good weld. The price is also a major factor. I paid around 500 for my MIG and around 1700 for the TIG.

    block prep

I am building the car in house to avoid the vast amount of expense. The only real labor that I planned paying for is the machinist and maybe a tuner to get the car dialed in. I am splurging a little on the engine with the turbo application.

    block prep

they are putting in the cam bearings and will pull out the old freeze plugs before they dip it. I am still trying to build this thing on some kind of a budget. I am already over what I had originally planned. Some of us don't have as deep of pockets as others.

    block prep

I just took my 289 block in to have it dipped and prepped for a rebuild. I am having the crank and cam line bored and having the cylinders honed if I can get away with that. What else should I have done to it if anything? I am planning on installing turbos.

Leaky rear main so I might as well do a tranny swap. Which Tranny?

sounds good. If I put it in my car it will be abused as well. Probly not as bad as you have done though.

Hey Darreld I might be interested in your T5 if you haven't destroyed it yet. I am still looking for a 5 speed for my 65.

Can someone snap a picture for me?

thanks. I was trying to figure out how to make a drip edge to hide the mouldings a little. I am undecided on trying to remove the little pop out above the door like you did.

    Good price on roof replacement?

doesn't sound that bad to me either. There is a fair amount of fabrication involved in the process.

Can someone snap a picture for me?

I'm in the process of replacing my roof and trying to figure out how to finish around the opening. I have a few ideas but would like to look at what others have done. I am worried that my weather stripping is not going to be sufficient to keep out the water especially with out the gutters.

Can someone snap a picture for me?

It looks like you removed your gutters. If so can you snap a couple photos of how you finished up on the underside where your weatherstripping is going and did you remove the little pop out detail that is behind the gutter above the door. I hope this makes sense to you. here is a pic of what I...
