    66 Fastback

I have a San Hose built 65 fastback (November 64) and there are 3 VINs on the fender aprons. I have 2 on the DS in the same location as Horse Sense mentioned but I also have a 3rd located on the passenger side apron about 4 inches toward the rear of the car from the shock tower center line. You...

    1987 5.0ho Carb Conversion Distributor

Last night I checked a couple of things and did a dry fit of the distributor. The shaft on the new distributor fits through the pilot hole down in the block. The hex on the ARP oil pump drive shaft also fits the end of the shaft. I think I'll just have to try this. Hopefully no issues to come.

    1987 5.0ho Carb Conversion Distributor

Maybe that's what it is. The distributor did come with a hardened steel gear for a roller cam. I also bought a hardened steel ARP oil pump drive shaft. I suppose I could dry fit the distributor to see if the shaft fits.

    1987 5.0ho Carb Conversion Distributor

This is what the seller said.... "Not sure why Ford did this for the late model EFI 302 but the info I have on it says "for improved drive gear engagement""

    1987 5.0ho Carb Conversion Distributor

Hi All, maybe I should ask the 5.0 guys this question but there's a ton of experience in this group so I thought I'd pick your brains first. The engine for my 65 is based on a 1987 5.0HO block. I have just about all the parts to start building the motor including the distributor. When I bought...

    Beauty or Blasphemy?

I like it. Being in the middle of trying to restore one on my own I am simply blown away by the effort and work that was done to it. An unbelievable amount of work, that motor, incredible. Frankenstang!!

Progress Thread Weiand Stealth 8020 Connections

Thanks guys. I have no intake to reference as I'm starting with a clean canvas. With vacuum secondaries either A or B holes would need to be connected to carb correct?

Progress Thread Weiand Stealth 8020 Connections

Hi All, I've been off for a while just buying engine parts as the budget permits. Getting close to starting the build now and I have a couple of questions. I just bought a Weiand Stealth (8020) intake manifold and am wondering what holes get fitted with what hoses, connectors etc and what...

    Autolite 4100 1.08 Vs 1.12

Lots of options (too many I think). I was thinking of using a 4100 b/c it is touted as one of the best carburetors ever built. Set it and forget it.

    Autolite 4100 1.08 Vs 1.12

Guys I need your experience.... I am thinking of using a bulletproof Autolite 4100 on my motor. I know the 1.12 venturis were typically used on the big blocks and hi-po 289's whereas the 1.08's were used on the smaller displacements. Ratings are supposed to be 480 and 600cfm. Do you think a...

    Engine New Aluminum Heads

I'm hoping that's not the case. These heads are from Skip White. They use better quality components when assembling the heads which are suitable for a hydraulic roller cam. Hopefully it makes a difference. The heads actually look quite nice and the short side radius even looks pretty good. Like...

    Engine New Aluminum Heads

The heads have arrived. Took awhile but they had to build them so all seems good out of the box. I checked the spring diameter and they are 1.46 with damper as advertised. Everything looks good as of now. I need a few more components before building the engine though. Water pump, fuel pump...

    Engine New Aluminum Heads

Ok well good or bad I took the plunge and bought a set of the revised ProComp aluminum heads for my build. They are the new versions and are machined and assembled in the US with good quality components. Have seen some not so friendly comments on the ProComps but my thinking is that they will...

Wrong Head Gasket? Knocking after rebuild

Just had another thought. When they rebuilt the heads did that include new springs? If not, maybe you have a bad spring that's allowing components to bounce. Not sure if that's realistic or not, just a thought.

Wrong Head Gasket? Knocking after rebuild

Good luck with this....I can feel the frustration you must be experiencing. I will be building my motor soon and am anxious to hear what the problem was. I hope it's nothing too serious for you. Please let us know.

GT40 head - Is this serious damage?

Yup, I'm thinking that even paying $300 for a set that needs work then another $140 per side for the valve work ($140 per side assuming the valve guides don't need replacing, otherwise more $$), then another $30 for new valve seals, + springs likely puts me in at $650-700+ with tanking etc. I...

What does code on the Crane Roller Rockers Mean?

Hey guys, just thought I would follow up with an FYI for you. I sent that picture to Crane's Tech Dept and got a quick response from them. -The '36' is Crane's indicator that the rocker is designated for a SBF -The 1.60 is (as suspected), the rocker ratio -The '-11' is internal manufacturing...

GT40 head - Is this serious damage?

Thanks. The problem I am having is finding a set of the heads. The JY's around here don't have them at all, they seem to be very scarce. I think I will be patient and wait though anyway. I am seriously considering a set of Flo-Tek alum heads. I read an article in a magazine where they were...

GT40 head - Is this serious damage?

I'm looking for a set of GT40 heads for my build. Found a set locally but the guy selling them says a piece of ringland came loose from a cast piston and rattled around in #8 before being spat out. Claims damage is cosmetic and that valves do not leak and are not bent. He's is swapping them out...

What does code on the Crane Roller Rockers Mean?

Anyone know what the stamped code on a gold Crane roller rocker means? 36-160 (I'm thinking it means 1.6 ratio but not sure what the '36' is for) Then below that it shows a stamped 'star' and '-11' Can anyone tell me what these are? I'm removing them from the aluminum heads I was going to...
