signs of a leaking heater core

I managed not to remove the entire dash, I got it pulled away just enough to expose the heater box. I cut the top of it out with a Dremel and removed the core. replaced it and taped over the cuts with alum duct tape. According to the manuals I have it calls for removal of the box, which means...

    2.3L to 2.3L swap problem!!!

If in fact you left the Pilot Bearing in the easiest way to remove it is to pack the void full of grease, use a bolt the same size as the hole, insert it, tap with a hammer and the hydraulic action will push the bearing out.

    Electrical problem...anyone got a diagram?

I seem to recall that those circuts are energized when the key is in the run position. when it would happen I'd gently rock the key switch. had to be careful- sometimes I'd shut the car off while driving!

    Electrical problem...anyone got a diagram?

Had the same problem once too, drove me nuts. I traced the circuits and narrowed it down to the ignition switch. I wound up taking the car to Ford and having the ignition switch replaced (Factory Recall- FREE- they were causing fires in the colume). problem fixed. call your dealer with the VIN...

Put the bearing in the freezer overnight or so. this will shrink the bearing diameter enough to fit.

    Starter noise

I have a 93 lx with the same problem. I replaced the flywheel, starter, ignition switch, and solenoid. still does it, drives me nuts. thought about shimming the starter away from the bell housing but I'm afraid I'd ruin the teeth from not getting a full tooth engagement. So I live with it. any...

I had the same problem in my 93 vert. wound up being the crank posit sensor mounted down in the bottom of the crank. cost me 95$ from advance. it was my own fault as I was replacing the t-belt w/o removing the harmonic balancer; I was using the trusty flat tip screwdriver and d*cked it up...

How many quarts of oil with filter change?

As I said earlier, I have been using Fram filters on my Stang for 15 years with 137k miles on the engine. It has never been touched internally. I bought this car new in 89. I use Castrol GTX and change it abt every 5-6k miles. I'm quite happy with Fram.

    Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick

NEVER EVER dump ATF into your oil!!! If you want to ruin the engine that is the best way to go. The detergents break down the oil resulting in very little or no coating of internal parts = dead engine. Go to the auto parts store and buy an engine oil flush kit or a quart of Marvels Mystery Oil...
