    Gas Cap Issue

    My aftermarket locking gas cap never did sit correctly. It either shows the horse with the front hoofs up in the air or the horse is upside down. So much for quality control. BTW, the original gas cap fits fine.

    Master Cylinder leak?!

    Does the car brake okay? Sometimes if the MC is leaking internally or a brake line is blocked, instead of the fluid going to the brakes, it will bubble up like a geyser back into the reservoir.

    Is it over filled? You don't have to fill it up to the brim. Maybe an eighth or quarter of an inch below.

    Did the car have the factory brace? My 67 coupe's driver's door and trunk lid don't line up perfectly either so either the first two owners did some body work or quality control wasn't all that great from the factory. I suspect quality control on these early cars.

    Just saying that if space is a concern, mounting the gauges in the engine compartment is another alternative using a tee fitting as suggested to work along with either stock gauges or idiot lights.

    I had a Crapmaro that did that. It was a time in my life when money was scarce, so didn't turn on the AC until I got on the freeway or didn't have too many traffic lights. It turned out to be a relay according to the AC repair shop.

    I have a vacuum gauge mounted inside of my engine compartment. I had it mounted under the dash, but for some reason, the plastic line always got too brittle inside of the car rather than in the engine bay. Figure that one out. :shrug:

    IMO, accurate gauges are really much more important than a tachometer in a street driven car. I look at my oil pressure, water temp and voltmeter more than I ever use the tachometer on the street. As for rat's nest, use cable ties or those plastic coil ducting they sell at parts stores.

    Is that suspected hot reading while the car is moving or when sitting still with the hood up? I have a 302 with a mild build up. It has a 160 degree thermostat. If I remember correctly, a 160 thermostat will start to open at 160 and at 180 it will stay wide open. My car has never gotten...
