more progress, more questions... idle speed and vacuum

Ok so i think i found the culprit for my idle speed being too high. I went by spraying some carb cleaner around vacuum lines and intake and carb. noticed a drop in rpm when spraying where the vacuum line that goes to the tranny goes into the carb. sure enough, it seems to be a bit big because it...

    manual brakes.. who has them?

interested in this thread. looking to upgrade to disks real soon. From what i understand you can always do the disk brake swap and then if you want power you can always switch out the master and power. I currently have manual drums and they totally suck.

cant get her to idle under 1000 rpm

so ive been resetting my curb idle speed every 3 days now. ive backed out the curb idle speed screw to the point that it has no effect on the throttle at all. however im still idling at 1000 rpm. if i push on the throttle down with my hand i can get it to about 800 but as soon as you press on...

    68 289 turbo or supercharge ?

From what ive read, this is a very interestin thread and one that comes down to preferences. Yes both routes, whether BB or turbo, it isnt gonna be cheap. Even a 427 or 460 will require the necassary boltons to make huge power and those parts cost money. Turbos requires newer systems and do...

    8 inch rear end

Well lets just say it gets overpowered very easily. i was talking to a drag racer on another forum, based on a lets say 14 sec run @100 in the qtr with a 3.00 open like mine. You could take off up to .5 sec with a gear and locker swap. thats a significant difference.

    8 inch rear end

Ive heard of 8 inchers handling up to 500 hp, but im guessing thats at the crank. Ive been looking into upgrading my rear end as well. So far ive found that finding parts for te ole 8" isnt very easy. That and upgrading to posi is pretty expensive, $400+ just for the unit. Ive looked at...
