    414c.i. Conversion Update

Do you mean to say PCV each time you put EGR? The crankcase ventilation is the issue, not exhaust gases, right? Scott

K member spacing and safety questions...

The problem lies in that it's a stamped part, all those ribs are necessary for stiffness and rigidity. It will flex like a demon, that's what I'd worry about. The bead of weld might actually make it want to stress crack more quickly, since it won't really flex. You might be able to take a...

I think I may move to the desert...

I feel for you, man. We haven't had a chance to start on our basement yet (new house last fall), but I worry about finding the sump dead and having to rip out the insulation and studs that are up on the outside walls. Best of luck and keep an eye out for deals on building materials! Scott

    heater hose question??

One of the factory hoses does have a flow restrictor in it. On an older F100, we accidentally reversed the heater hoses and you'd have thought the thing was going to blow up. Somehow the reversed fluid path caused the cores in the heater core to vibrate and moan. Strange, I know... :D

Anyone who has deleted their A/C.....

Good luck, I've had that same part request in my sig for about 6 months and nobody has one to offer. :nonono: Scott

    Cam ? and comp problem.

Sounds like it should be a nice runner, but I don't know anything about the cam. On the scanner question, make sure you're not trying to hook up to the unused connector under the dash. You need the test connectors behind the passenger side strut tower. Scott

    dyno numbers!

My car did 215/279 when I got it, with off-road H, equal length shorties, and underdrive pulleys. Stock cam, misaligned ports, and a pretty significant amount of blowby on my current setup got me 265/300, and you're right on with the 1/4 times. See my sig for what it's gotten me so far...

    really, really unnecessary!

I honestly never had a problem with my stock setup until the cable let go around 60K miles and 8 years old. The previous owner had damaged it when they put the headers on, and it finally let go about 3 years after that. If you have the stock quadrant, you have to realize it's already 15/16...

Anyone still running a steel driveshaft?

I would say that if you're short on cash, get a used one but make sure it's straight and the yoke & flange are in good condition. My buddy spent more money fixing his stock Fox shaft than he would have put into a new aluminum unit. Scott

Anyone ever use or hear of these RR??

:stupid: I had a set of those damn things and they weren't worth the shipping from Summit. There was so much play in the roller tips that they actually rocked side to side. The guide plates couldn't even keep them in place over the valve stems. They were also very noisy, sounded like they...

so i'm making a small pick up tomorrow....

The best way to clean them up is to sand or bead blast them, then use whatever paint you want. I sand blasted my E/L shorties and then sprayed them with black BBQ grill paint. It took about 2 weeks for it to turn most of the paint a dull gray color, and after about a year and a half of very...

    zoom clutch cable

I had a Zoom cable on my car for about two years (10K miles or so) before it stretched and snapped. I always had to adjust the stupid thing, it stretched that much. Plus, it was never smooth to operate, and I tried re-routing the cable at least 3 times. I bought the MM universal or whatever...

Update the pic and job/hobby thread!!!

Scott I'm a Tooling Engineer for Medtronic Spinal. I don't have many hobbies lately since we've built a new house in the last year. So far it's been finishing up projects around here, and soon will be putting in the yard and finishing the basement. Hopefully I'll have time to play with the...

    Any MSD experts out there??

I never experienced this after installing mine. Timing didn't change a bit, and I checked it originally with an older Snap-On standard light, and currently with a dial timing light. I have a two step box, just haven't found a need for it yet. I really doubt that has anything to do with it. I...

Flowtech X Pipe: Anyone have it?

I hadn't seen that one yet, but I got a UPR X about two years ago, and it's great. It was only like $150 at the time, too. Sorry I'm no help, just thought I'd offer a cheaper alternative. :D Scott

What to Keep, Move, or Delete... ENGINE BAY QUESTIONS!

Fair enough, sorry for the joke. If you don't drive the car in the winter, you can dump the heater core and heater lines. ABS should be able to be removed, but you'll get a light I'm sure. You will probably have to run new brake lines in the process though, just fyi. If you're going...

What to Keep, Move, or Delete... ENGINE BAY QUESTIONS!

Especially if you take out the cooling system with it, no need for coolant if there's nothing to cool... lol :rlaugh:

    gts?

That's a little generous on the weight difference. My cousin has a GT, 5spd - loaded with options, and his car was about 120# heavier than my car, both with about 1/4 tank of gas and no driver, according to the scale we went to. Also, any option that could be ordered on a V6 car could be...

    Motor swap dilemma

I thought the same thing, but I was told by another member that they are the same, that's how people can update their autos to the 4R100, E4OD, or whatever is used in the newer cars. Scott
