    Recommendations for jumpy suspension?

I have the same front suspension (or very similar) and none of your problems. Bad alignment for sure. Possibly worn tie rods and steering components in addition to the bad alignment.

    convertible subframe connectors

Ground clearance is not as bad as you think. I can't remember how to attach a picture, or I'd show you how mine came out.

    convertible subframe connectors

Even with the additional bracing a convertible has, it's no where near as strong as a coupe or fastback. The roof plays an important role in a uni-body frame. Sub frames make a huge diference in coupes and convertibles. I've never tried them on a FB. Export braces and monte carlo bars should...

Opentracker roller idler arm and P/S

Anyone have any experience with these on a power steering car? I'm getting into my steering next month so that would be the time to swap out the idler, but I'm not sure if there is a benefit with power steering.

    Headers with T5

No mention of what you want to spend, but if you got the coin, FPA headers are hard to beat. I've got the 5/8" to 3/4" long tubes and they are tight up under the body. They don't hang lower than the frame rail. I can use them with power steering w/o droping the power ram. And they fit with my...

    Softer than 620's w/ 1" drop?

Mustangs Plus calls their 560 spring a 620. Most others call their springs by the rating (a 500 lb spring is called 500). I believe this goes back to the 70's when a 620 spring was about the only choice other than stock. Mustangs Plus marketed their spring as better for the street. Ride...

    Tie rod suggestions

Moog makes quality ball joints and tie rods. People like Opentracker, Maier and possibly Mustangs Plus sells them. You may want ask what brand they (CJ) are selling. I got bit by Laurel Mountain too. Junk control arms and spring perches.

    bad handling, some body rot

I'd fix the rot first, then loose the stock sway bar. I don't know what 69's have but earlier years came with 5/8" that didn't do much. It does sound like your leafs are shot, or you do have something getting loose back there though. A lot of people will say don't use a rear sway bar, but I...

    3-point seat belt for convertible

Roll bars are great if you don't have passengers in the back seat, but a side impact can whip someones head into a steel bar pretty easy. In high school I knew a kid who died this way. Not a bad accident, but it killed him just the same. I have heard similar stories (not mustang related). I...

    Smog equipment on a 66?

There was also a "stove pipe" connecting hot air off the exhaust mainfold to the air cleaner when cold. I don't know what was required in WA.

    3-point seat belt for convertible

Then there's a slight tap from behind and you're in a neck brace (or worse) from whiplash. Seats with head rests would be a good thing.

    3-point seat belt for convertible

Everything I've seen connects the shoulder belt below the height of your shoulder. In an accident this could compress your spine. I was thinking about attaching to a roll bar, but roll bars have their own issues.. Subscribing because I too would like to see if there is a good alternative...

Questions on exhaust styles - need pics

I've got FPA long tubes, 2.5" H-pipie, T5, Super turbos, tailpipes on a 68 convertible. It's really tight with the belly plate, but doesn't touch. An AOD might be worse. BTW My Dynomax Turbos drone horribly. Thinking of using tail pipe resonators.

    What Shocks?

Only two shocks I've liked on old mustangs are Bilstiens (my current) from Miaer Racing or the old Gabriel Stryders which are discontinued. Bilstiens are $$$ but worth every cent. PM me if you want to buy some slightly used Edlebrocks.

New Engine - FR, Keith Craft or Smedding?

I couldn't agree more with classic boost! After start up my rear main started to leak. The owner of my local shop came to my house and replaced the rear main and thrust bearing while the motor was still in the car (I dropped the pan). Turns out the tranny input shaft was hitting the back of...

    Cam help

289, low to mid power, 360 hp? I think there is a contradiction there. Any two is very do-able. I'd go XE256h or XE262h for a good street motor. 270S or 282S to hit 360 hp with a 289 BTW Like the heads. Sounds like a good motor. What trans?

    Different Heads on 289

You might want to consider Canfiels also. 170cc, no step washers for 7/16 head bolts and you can get them with 54 cc chambers (like 289 heads) or 58 cc. http://www.canfieldheads.com/sbf.html

    68 conv new paint

Nice color choice. What is that off? I've been looking at different shades of blue myself. FWITW 2.5" exhaust fits with the stock convertible belly plate and a T5, but you have to go H pipe. The X just wasn't going to fit.

Anybody using Jegs SBF aluminum heads?

The Jegs brand is really Canfield 170's.
