    Need help locating a gasket

I've noticed a whine recently coming from my transmission that increases in pitch as speed increases. Most noticeable in 3rd. 4th and OD. Probably because it is at a higher pitch than "road noise" at that point. I can manipulate (but not eliminate) the sound by placing my hand on the...

Drivetrain Pictorial Guide To Odometer Gear Replacement

If I recall correctly: The older stangs (pre 2001??) have a separate mechanism for speed and odometer. The newer models run off a digital VSS. The older ones are actually gear and cable driven from your transmission (on the manuals at least) I would pull the cable out of the side of the...

Drivetrain Pictorial Guide To Odometer Gear Replacement

^^^ Valid point. Perhaps the original owner had attempted removal of the knob and ended up breaking the retention tab. They may have super glued the knob back on. According to the manufacturer, Acetone will break the glue bond. Not sure how it will affect the plastic.

That white tab is just the camera flash reflecting off the metal tab. I recall pushing the tab in one direction to remove the knob, while others had success pushing in the opposite direction. Maybe it depends on how the tab got installed at the factory.

    Thermostat Housing Exploded

I've searched and have not found much information on this particular situation. My mother was driving her '05 from the dealership today after her routine oil change. After about 2 miles of driving, steam starts pouring out from under the hood. She pulls into the nearest parking lot and shuts...

Quick reply does not bring them up. "Go Advanced" will. Also, some browsers open the icon page up in a new window, that will possibly be hidden by your current browser window. And if you don't have them memorized by now, you must read the entire derailers thread from the first post. :p

    2002 - 2004 PCV Valve

wish it was (far cheaper) but I have verified by looking. Mine has the heated PCV valve. I have taken it out for inspection and the valve still functions, so I will be returning the other valve for a refund and not purchase a new one.

:nice: Yeah, that's why I'm like  Why heat a valve that sits in the engine bay... on top of the engine  Not enough heat in there already I guess

Sorry for the long wait, I could have swore I replied to your post, but I don't see it here. My thoughts are to fix the pin first. The alarm may have something to with alerting you to the broken pin that the needles may detect during the start up sweep. Computers are damn smart these days...

    2002 - 2004 PCV Valve

I wanted to help others that can't find this info through the search feature. I found bits and pieces of what I needed and put the info in this post. OK, I own a 2003 GT and was planning on replacing my PVC valve today (which is located on the passenger side cover, just to the front of the TB...

So for an '03 would it be the regular oil with added friction modifier or would it be synthetic oil with no added friction modifier? EDIT: did more searching.... 75W-140 (XY-75W140-QL) + 4oz. of friction modifier (XL-3) it is.
