    You could look for a set of used 65-67 289-2v heads. That would bump your CR to from 9.0 to 10.0, the cost to rebuild a good set of 289 heads would be comperable or cheaper than shaving the 302 heads since to achieve your goals with 302 heads you'd also have to shave some material from your intake.

    MSD Distributor Install Problems

    Agreed, your oil pump shaft isn't lining up. If you have a 1/4" socket you can tape it to an extension to give it a little turn until the distributor drops into place. I use duct tape just to ensure the socket doesn't fall off the extension.

    OK, I've ran it through a couple heat cycles know and need to re-torque things like heads, headers, intake, etc.. Question is, do I re-torque with the engine warm or cold?

    Too much bling is that even possible? It's rated at 150 amps not sure of make picked it up from a local shop for $160 or $170 I can't recall. He does sell on eBay under the name a1truck. For an unpolished alt it would have been about $50 less contact him and he'll hook you up.
