Is it necessary to change the torque conv. when installing a new tranny?

Thing is, debris from wear or failure in the old tranny ends up in your converter, then will contaminate the rebuilt trans. Here's a place that's got good deals on some converters www.roadrunnerconverters.com

    Need answer FAST PLEASE!

I don't see where a bit of oil on it or soaked into it would hurt anything. It's going to be exposed to oil from the pressure side anyway.

Replacing an AOD with a 4R70W?

A couple of us have been working on this for some time, trying to figure out all the little details. Has anyone done this? If so would appreciate you looking over this link - you'll have to read it thru and carefully cuz it's been updated a few times and not all the references to any...

HELP, my aod is leaking faster then the titanic did

To stop pan leaks once and for all, try this. Spray the bolts AND the bolt holes with carb spray. Blow dry w/compressed air if you have it, or let air dry. Put a dab of loctite on the bolts when you install them, and torque them to factory specs. Let it sit overnite. Those bolts will...

    AOD + 3.73s = Shift Kit Required?

You'll need to do a shift kit because with the deeper gears it fools the trans into shifting at different points. You can also get a higher rpm governor kit from TCI. Read up on that at Baumann's site www.becontrols.com and at TCI Here's some info on beefing AODs...

    Need a good blower cam

I've read that the X (or is it Z?) cam is a good blower cam, used by several reputable aftermarket builders that do lots of blowers. One reason because it has little overlap - wide lobe centers - so the charge doesn't bleed out thru the exhaust.

    fuel injected 351?

See my combo in my sig. I happened to find a used Ford mass air meter that was calibrated to work with 30 lb inj's on a 302 w/stock EEC-IV ecu. Although it runs pretty good, I'm going to have it dyno tuned to correct things like the load vs timing & fuel tables, get the mixture right...

    Silly ? - poss to switch 89 EEC-IV to 94 EEC (V?) to control 4R70W?

Hey, really appreciate all the input! More than I figured, and I was kind of surprised there might actually be a way to do something like this. I've got a complete diagram for my car photocopied out of a big Chilton type at the local library - so should be able to find later diagrams...

    Silly ? - poss to switch 89 EEC-IV to 94 EEC (V?) to control 4R70W?

Silly ? - poss to switch 89 EEC-IV to 94 EEC (V?) - or add it - to control 4R70W? Yeah, no doubt a silly question. I suppose the 94/95's are EEC-V's and have lots more pins in the computer and the whole wiring scheme is different and more complicated? I'd sure like to find a way to...

    Knock Sensors??

Anybody know of a knock sensor that will work on a Windsor? Even if it does nothing more than light an indicator light. Guess it might have to be adjustable for sensitivity somehow? Thanks for any info / experiences!

Switching from AOD to C4 Tranny

If you're doing it just for strip, it makes sense. For street, you're losing both overdrive and lockup. The AOD can be made to hold lots of power, or you can go to a late model 4R which already has all the hp goodies Ford has developed over the years for the OD transmissions. Here's...

Replacing a few sensors, have a few questions...

It's generally true that your sensors, esp your )2 sensors, shouldn't have a big chance of going bad or marginal till closer to 100k miles. I think the first thing to try would be to clean the IAC valve, and if that doesn't do it, clean the injector "salt and pepper" connectors, lots of guys...

Will this Ford Racing water pump fit my '90?

Equal flow, a little higher volume is good. I'd also STRONGLY recommend a "hi flow" 180 t-stat. Mine now runs right on the money all the time irregardless of conditions. The hi flow stats like out of Summit keep the engine lots closer to the intended temps.
