Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

If I am correct, that the CPP LCA uses the stock LCA mounting point for the rear leg of its A-frame, then I would expect that the LCA ball joint will be in exactly the same spot as the stock one. That means the CPP kit will have no effect on your ability to lower the mounting points for the...

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

To refresh everyone's recollection, here is the basic CPP kit: Looking at this hardware, it appears that the first step, after removal of the OE lower control arm and the strut rod, is to cut off the brackets for the front ends of the strut rods. Then you flip the big C-shaped subframe...

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

This thread is already spiraling out of control, but just for the record: * Rod/stroke ratio got a lot of attention in the '70's and '80's but today the consensus is that it's less important than the other things a high ratio interferes with, e.g., longer stroke (= bigger cubes) and a proper...

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

That was an unfortunate post; there was no "small block" formula that anyone owned and that he could shop it around from one manufacturer to another. Anyway, as far as the primacy of the SBC, my understanding of the hot rod family tree is to begin with the '32 Ford V8 flattie. For nearly 20...

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

Exsqueeze me, but if I had to choose between an '08 3-series BMW and a 4th gen Crapmaro, I think I could bite the bullet and live with those awful Mac struts. Anyone car to bankroll me? In fact, '08 Saturn vs Crapmaro, even that one is hard to say. Just how nice a Crapmaro are we talkin about?

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

My opinion: tire aspect ratio is the single most important factor in ride harshness. Second is the shock absorber. Third is spring rate. Another factor is chassis stiffness. If your shocks or springs don't flex, but your chassis does, it feels the same to the butt dyno.

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

First post to thread: 4:19 p.m. PDT. First Chevy-rules-Stangs-suck post: 5:03. Now that didn't take long. And you know these other guys were cornering on public roads at 10/10ths how? What I'm saying is that an impromptu dice on public roads between drivers of unknown skills, intent, and...

Has anyone checked out AJE's new front end?

Further thread hijacking: check out this rear suspension system, from an outfit called Highland Daytona Racing, that they call a "Satchell Link" system: It's in the October Hot Rod mag's "new products" section and got some between-the-shows coverage on Spike Power Block with...

    New Wheels and Tires

That's interesting; I would think you could go quicker around the cones if you downsized the rears, so they're not as wide as the fronts. All I ever get from my '65 Mustang and my '70 Cougar is plow, plow, plow. So I would not think to go bigger in the rear, at least not for tight corners like...

Did the 1970 Cougar use a Heater Water Control Valve? (351C)

My '70 Cougar with 351C-2v and factory AC has a heater water control valve, vacuum actuated, and placed in line in one of the heater hoses. The one in my car was actually installed by CAA in Tampa, even though I live in the SF Bay Area. That's how bad AC service is in the SF Bay Area, that I...

    Your Stance!!

235/45-17 Falkens on 17 x 8 Raceline GT's with 5" backspace, 7/32" spacer on the fronts to clear upper ball joints, rolled fenders, 1" Shelby drop, Maier Racing "realigned" UCA's, progressive rate "one inch lowering" coil springs with about 1/2 coil cut, Maier 4.5 leafs.

t5 swap - mid project questions

As I recall, there is a fill hole in the side of the case. You can get plunger pumps that screw into a quart bottle of ATF that will pump the juice. It's been awhile, but my memory is of feeding a tube from such a pump into that fill hole and pumping in two or more bottles until the juice...

    Removing camshaft

I'm glad you can move forward now. While your wife does the easy stuff like giving birth, nursing, night waking, and diapers, you'll be out there in the garage doing your manly duty to provide transportation for the family.

    Removing camshaft

You have a long bolt that fits the cam, right? Put the timing gear on that bolt and thread it into the cam and use the timing gear like a slide hammer. Don't "gorilla" it, but do use some force. I would expect you're fighting some sludge build up at the forward end of one of the cam bearings...

    Hi-Po

The big tip-off to clone status is always going to be the Shelby American serial number tag on the driver's side inner fender. Shelby riveted these in place over the stock VIN stamping. That's the first place any Mustang hobbyist looks to sort the really good clones from the gennies. Since...

1967 Shock Towers - SOHC Engine

With the TCP coilovers you should have at least one-half inch more space inside the shocktowers to work with than with stock springs. I remember that Mustangs in Black project car started out with a shocktower notching approach. Dave Stribing aka Mustangsurfer was the instigator. DVS, I...

How much exhaust is too much?

I think 3" exhaust and Flow 40's will be super loud. A 2.5" circle has an area of 4.9 sq. in. A 3" circle is 7.1 sq in. That's a 44% increase -- almost half again as much. That x303 cam will be pretty lumpy too, and maybe a little hard to start, depending on your ignition system. All-in-all...

    eleanor wheels

For Mustangs Unlimited to market a 17 x 8 with 4.25 backspacing as a good fit for a '65-'66 is fraudulent. I have 17 x 8's on my '65 but they're 5.00 BS. The tires ar 235/40's. I had to use a 7/32" spacer on the front to clear the ball joint. The fender lips a are rolled. And I had to...

    Interior paint question

I think some laquer thinner on a towel will take all that Rainbow paint off and it won't harm the fiberglass. I had my cladding pieces carefully blasted by Paul at Mustang Magic. You must be very careful with blasting or sanding because if you penetrate the gel coat you'll hit the glass...
