    e-brake cable removal in car?

Anybody ever take the whole e-brake assembly out of the car? What is the secret to getting the cablke off? I'm putting in new carpet and figured it would be much easier to install with everything that sticks up out of the way. Plus, I figured I'd go ahead and get the leather wrapped one from...

I just ordered the mgw shifter

Anybody know if they plan to make one for the 3550? From what I read so far all they have is basically for the factory transmissions.

    exhaust leak?

Well, now that you have successfully diagnosed the problem, what do you do? If you are anything like me, you will open your hood, grab a smoke and a seat, and sit there for a while thinking about how much it sucks that you're going to have to do that whole header thing AGAIN! I would say that...

    What gear oil??

Everyone has access to a torch. Just go to Home Depot and pick up a propane torch kit for $10-$20 They come in handy more often than you would think.

    Equal length?

Oh yeah, Don't pay any attention to my sig. My car is a Kenne-bell blown 92 GT. Not an 01 GT. I need to update!

    Equal length?

Buy a set of BBK unequals, 1 set of Mr. Gasket ultra seal exhaust gaskets, and 1 set of stage 8 locking header bolts. You will be set, and you won't even miss the 3 extra horsepower! I had a set of Mac equal lengths and they were a major pain to install. Not really because of their size except...

How to get in/lbs reading on gears?

When I order my tools at work through MSC it comes the very next day everytime. The harbor freight idea sounds good as far as being able to just go pick one up, as long as it is the dial type, or at the very least the bar type. If you are gonna be that pressed for time and don't really want to...

How to get in/lbs reading on gears?

Ah what the hey, here's a pic. It is 1/4" drive, so you definately have to do some stepping up to get the big socket you'll need. Just remember though, you are not torquing anything down or putting any kind of force on this setup. You are merely checking the drag associated with turning the pinion.

How to get in/lbs reading on gears?

That's not really what you want. You are not really torquing anything down, to the point where you would make a torque wrench "click" What you are doing is checking how much preload you have on the pinion bearing. You are crushing the crush collar, or sleeve if you will. You need what they call...

How do I know if my smog pump is going out?

I've had the same problem for years. I did finally narrow it down to the check engine light staying off at startup if the outside temp is cool. Let's say 60 degrees or below. But when the outside temp is over that certain temp it stays on at startup and never goes away. I've got all the codes...

    leaky 3550 help

What seals are you talking about? The seals that are right by all the places that are leaking? Meaning I would have to replace all the seals in every different place that it's leaking? I would do it myself if the seals are easy to get a hold of and change, since I already have the car up in the...

    leaky 3550 help

My 3550 pretty much leaking in a couple different places. Theres no place where it leaks so much that it actually drips, yet, but it is awfully wet around where the back up lights hook up and where the speedo hooks up, and maybe another place or two. Does anybody know if there is a pressure...

Quick question about window molding removal

I used a regular hammer to sneak under and start to pry up gently. You just have to be really careful, and try to pry close to the clips, if you can get a feel where they are. Bends are a beotch to get out once you put them in. Also, I would recommend a satin black, it more closely resembles the...

    AOD to T5 swap

I spent about $2000 total and ended up with a 3550, centerforce dual friction clutch, bellhousing, and a triax shifter. I bought all this stuff used for like $1200 Also got an aluminum drive shaft. All within $2000 easy. Not too bad when you consider the what these transmissions cost new all by...

    19's or 24's?????

Jason, I'm getting ready to pull my 30's with matching shorty pro-m 80mm. I have some 42's on the way. I could probably save you some money. If you are interested pm me or e-mail [email protected] I wouldn't think they would be too big and would give you some room to grow. What does everybody...
