    Puffing exhaust?

I have a DOHC 4.6L that's developed almost a 'lope' in the idle that is transmitted through the whole car when the motor's running as a harsh vibration. It's very regular, almost like a lopey cam would be, but this is a stock motor with stock cams, and there is no 'lope' to them. This all...

    Failing Smog

Are you failing the sniffer then and passing the visual/gas cap tests? I'm not totally familiar with California's emissions laws, but you just need to pass the sniffer, right? There's a list of... well... cheats to get any car through emissions. What are the numbers you're putting out right...

    89 mustang OBD-II?

The EEC-IV has a diagnostic port located in the rear of the driver's side engine bay. It consists of a trapazoidal-shaped connector and a small single-pin connector. This can be plugged into any $20 EEC-IV code reader. However, EEC-IV is not capable of delivering real-time data, or as...

    Weird timing problem

Oh, other info... The distributor, TFI, coil, plug wires have all been changed. Plugs are new 3924's. IAC was cleaned. EGR is currently unplugged in case is was bleeding exhaust gasses into the intake and screwing up the mixture.

    89 mustang OBD-II?

No, the Mustang 5.0L is controlled by an EEC-IV computer, it is not OBD-II.

    Weird timing problem

Okay, so I've been trying to get this N/A HCI combo to run for a week or so now, and I've got it to idle and that's about it. Basically it's AFR 185 heads, TFS Track Heat intake, blower cam, 75mm TB, 80mm MAF calibrated to the injectors, 24lbs injectors, 190lph in-tank. This car had a NOVI, but...

No power after head gasket repair?

'Alchy' is my short/slang term for denatured alchohol. Burns clean and helps put a car through emissions.

No power after head gasket repair?

"Like the timing is wrong..." If by that you mean that the distributor is off a tooth or whatever, that's very unlikely. I put the distributor back in according to the marks I made beforehand, and with the SPOUT removed set the timing. The car idled with the SPOUT removed just fine at 14*. I...

No power after head gasket repair?

Here's the deal... Car was originally a blower car, had AFR 185 heads, TFS Track Heat intake, blower cam, 24lbs injectors, 190lph pump, 75mm TB/EGR spacer and 80mm MAF calibrated for the injectors. Stock computer. Bought car with blown head gaskets, but it ran strong and had good driveability...

    Roll Cage

You didn't mention the F40 wing, 5" tach or Altezza's in your sig? :rlaugh: Personally, when you introduced yourself to the local group you wrote in the wrong description of the car you claim to own, seeing as how you failed to mention the motor at all and put emphasis on the faux Naawwwssss...

Front control arm differences, fitment issues

Just curious what the differences are between Fox, '94-95, and '96+ control arms are. I know that the '96+ arms are approx. 3/4" longer than the stock Fox arms, but what about ball joints? I know that the Fox joints are taller, but are the diameters similar? Can a Fox spindle fit on a '96+...

    Idle problems with blower

Cleaned the IAC and it seems to have fixed it. The motor starts and idles fine now, go figure. Anyway, the car has a 80mm MAF calibrated to the 24lbs injectors and a 75mm throttlebody, so that's not an issue.

    Idle problems with blower

Well, just picked up an '89 GT with what I think is a killer setup already installed, but the damn thing won't idle! -Sportsman block -NOVI 1000 w/ 8lbs pulley -AFR 185 heads -TFS Track Heat intake -190lph fuel pump -24lbs injectors -equal length shorty headers -Bassani X-pipe...

    '92 LX Notch ideas

Well if ya' wanna get technical about it, it's not that planes tore themsleves apart because of the excessive speed. When the straight-winged fighters of WWII would encounter the 'sound barrier', or the dynamic forces that act upon the aerodynamics of the wing approaching the speed of sound, the...

    '86 hatch, have questions

Well, for starters I'm sorta new to the 2.3L realm. Trying to convert myself away from my beloved V8's I guess. I'm pickin' up a '86 hatch, straight car, torched motor. It originally has what I would call the 4-banger's version of CFI, and a C4 non-OD auto tranny. Neither is appealing to me...

    '92 LX Notch ideas

Umm, the ME 262 had an easy 100mph gain over the P51 in level flight, maxing at 540mph to the P51's 437mph. Nothing the allies had could match the 262 for speed until the British introduced the Gloster Meteor that the allies had an operational jet fighter, and an aircraft capable of keeping pace...

    Need opinions on round mufflers

That's why I'm not real interested in a traditional glasspack. What about a Moroso or ProFlo spiral muffler?

    Need opinions on round mufflers

Okay, there's lots of stuff out there about oval mufflers for stock-style cat-backs, but I'm looking for opinions about round mufflers for a side-exhaust project. So, there's UltraFlow rounds, UltraFlow Bullet's, MagnaPak's, Moroso round chambered's, your typical glasspax mufflers, etc. Who...

    Backfires, no driveability, I'm stumped

Well, I'm trying to trouble shoot this new car, '86 speed density HO motor. The problem is that if the car is warmed up, it won't run for crap. You touch the accelerator, it coughs, backfires and wants to stall out. It won't even idle right. If it's cold, it'll run and drive okay for the most...

Any issues with bolting E7's to vintage motors?

Really? Why hasn't anyone else mentioned this? Where does the old head have coolant passages that the new ones don't?
