    Yes you need a special bit to take the MAF sensor out. #20 secure-torq bit. (the one with the hole in the middle) I would disconnect the battery. And the pinging because its hot out?... maybe you just solved your own problem.... ITS HOT OUT. Run higher octane gas, see if that soves it...

    Look in your owner manual for the fusebox diagram (the one under the steering wheel), look for a fuse for DRL (daytime running lights) pull that one. I couldn't see what your citizenship would have to do with disabling lights though...... Nor rewiring them, that is for having your fogs on...
