POST HERE IF YOU DRIVE AN AUTO

I am not a loser and I have an auto. It is sure nice when traffic is moving slow on the highway or streets. Besides like some of the experts here have already said you can build up the AODE very nice.

    Adjusting Timing

Yeah 10-12* mark, sorry. Alright cool, then I am on the right path. I will probably just pick up the tool to make it easier for me. So is it CW to advance and CCW to retard, right? Thanks guys! Enjoy the food, I know I will.

    Adjusting Timing

I did a search and did not come up with what I needed to know. I have two questions concerning timing. First, I checked my timing and if I did it correctly than the timing marks on my balancer compared to the stationary mark if you were looking at it from front of engine is as follows: the...

Well I took it for a spin. Idle is much better. That noise is gone. Power is better and better yet it does not ping at 1500rpms. It still does ping over 3k but I still have not checked the timing. I will have to buy a timing light and do that. There are no leaks. I am sure once I set the...

Well I started it up and it is making a loud noise and it is coming from the balancer. I want to take it for a spin but I dont think that sound can be good.

Okay which is the idler pulley? I just reread and figured out the tensioner pulley which is the one you adjust. Is it possible that my belt stretched?

The idler pulley is the one you adjust to get the belt on, right? I checked all the pulleys, looks like all the ribbed parts of the belt are against with the ribs on them and the smooth part of the belt goes against pullies with smoe surfaces.

Question, once you put the crank pulley back on should it be able to move freely like the rest of the pulleys? Second question, now my belt is too big. I am pretty positive that I routed it correctly. What the hell is going on?

I got it in, my only question now is how far in do push the balancer?

Yes I am using an installer. I lined it up and slid the balancer on part way. What exactly is the woodruff key for? The key way is the line in the inside hub of the balancer right? The thrust bearing just goes into the hole. I am just not understanding, have any pics?

Alright now I cant figure out how to put the new balancer in. I guess the problem I am having is that the thrust bearing goes into the balancer. It is supposed to stop and lie on the balancer so that I can hold the nut in front of it while I thrust the center bolt in to push the balancer back...

Ok Grady I think I got it. I will tackle it first thing in the morning. The instructions in the chilton, haynes, and kit leave little things out like that. I just want to be sure so I dont end up damaging anything.

Okay I am reading the instructions on the kit. Now tell me if I am correct in its interpretation. It states, "Grease long black center bolt (do I need to do that), then thread center bolt through center hole in puller body, then place tip assembly (now is that referring to the center point?)...

    Searched to no avail...

Okay I think I am just confused. I rented the whole kit from checkers. Now first of all does it matter the order of threading in the center bolt and the other three bolts. Second when you say that "center bolt has a pointed washer looking thing that will fit on the end of the bolt" are you...

Okay...Final50 your explanation of how it works I think will help me out alot. For one thing I was not using that pointed washer. The only problem is that I can only thread two of the bolts on the harmonic balancer, does that matter or do I need all three to be threaded?
