    engine help

Yeah it's not as simple as 'dropping' a v8 and a manual in. You'll need the wiring harness, computer, upgraded suspension and a ton of other parts. Depending on how long you want the vehicle down and how much you want to spend, it would probably be best to try to fix what is wrong now, and...

    Shop or Repair Manuals

Haynes and Chiltons are both alright if you want torque specs or a general idea of the procedure. Otherwise contact Ford and they can get you a shop manual. It'll cost though.

    Transmission

Also check salvage yards as they will have many of the things you will need, like the pedal assembly, cables, etc. I'm not sure if you need to modify where the shifter is located when going from an auto to a manual, someone else here will know.

3.8 v6 convertible purchase questions please

I just picked up a flawless '95 vert with the 6 for $500. and only 99k on it. It had a bad trans and sat for almost 3 years without being run. I picked up a salvage yard trans and put it in last Sunday and it runs great. The lady I purchased it from already had the head gaskets fixed, she just...

    97 V6 intake questions

I remember seeing something similar to that in the MMFF magazine sometime in '05. Try looking on their website and see if they have any old tech articles on this. I believe the intake was from a newer Windstar, 2000 model maybe?, with the 3.8.

    Tranny question

I recently picked up this 95 vert that had sat for 3 years due to a bad tranny. The girl said when the tranny went all the car would do was rev but not go until it eventually wouldn't move at all. The shop told her it would have to be replaced, but a mechanic never looked it over, just told her...

Is it Really Worth it to Do this?

Is the dealership fixing it when you say bodyshop?

body lines and gaps. not 100% perfect

I knew it was mechanical mannequins at the factories and dealership...especially after asking the dealer about these problems and all they could say was, "you can trade it in on a new one". They have some cute fembots though!:D

body lines and gaps. not 100% perfect

Mine isn't a newer 'Stang but I'll say I have a 96 GT vert and I know mine has been wrecked from the metal roll in the inside rear driver quarter tire well. Also my rear window on that side doesn't roll up and seal right. I DID notice however, that the core support on each side where it...

    Bad IAC??

I would agree, put on a new IAC. I recently replaced mine after trying to clean it and nothing happened, the electrical component of the IAC was toast. A short history, my car was: it was hard to start and would almost die out and then the tach would bounce around on idle. The new IAC fixed...

    It put down WHAT!!!!

Cars just get faster. I don't personally race everything that revs a motor at me and even if they are faster, I don't care. I bought my 'Stang because I like the looks of it an it's a '96 GT. I've owned mainly Camaro's all my life that would stomp alot of 'Stangs but there was for me, just...

    Timing chain replacement

Yeah a real Ford manual would be good but I have been doing this for along time, and usually just use manuals for torque values and other specs. I do however, always read the procedure if I have the manual just in case some wacky step like this gets mentioned, or a special tool is needed...

    Timing chain replacement

Yeah thats exactly what it is,the tensioners are gone. Used a stethoscope and 'walla'. I just thought it odd to have to drop the oil pan, as Haynes calls for, but then again, it's not the first time a Haynes manual has gotten stupid on a repair. At 150k on the motor, just makes sense to...

I think I ruined my motor!

Sounds like the new cams weren't quite timed right and jacked the valve(s) up causing the problem since it didn't go away when the old cams were put back. Or a broken spring. Use a stethoscope to pinpoint the exact location. On another note, an inlaw of mine had a same year, same motor...

    Timing chain replacement

I'm getting ready to replace the timing chain after 150k on my 1996 GT 2v and I've replaced many timing chains in cars throughout my life but while glancing through the procedure in the Haynes manual it says that you have to remove the oil pan, which requires removing the tranny. I've never had...

Has anyone else had this problem?

Will this 1443 code cause this kind of problem then? Ford says no.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have cleaned the iac and there is no fuel smell in the oil. I do have code p1443 with the mil light on. I did just buy a purge flow sensor but Ford said that it wouldn't cause misfiring or idling problems. The Haynes manual says different though. I won't be able to install the part or...

Has anyone else had this problem?

I posed this question about a month ago but milk, a three year old, and computers don't go together well. I have a stock 1996 4.6 that is giving me fits with an intermittent cutout problem. I have replaced the spark plugs, coils, fuel filter, and air filter all at the same time. The spark...

Why does this buck and hesitate?

No, I've changed the fuel filter, and pcv. I'm anal about routine maintenance. The DPFE sounds interesting though. I haven't tried checking the vacuum to see if it is within specs. I did remove the egr and clean it. It wasn't really fouled or anything though.
