What are the most miles you have seen someone get out of a 96-98 cobra engine?

I've got a 98 Cobra with 110,000 miles on it and it runs great. I bought it with 94k miles on the odometer and I've changed the plugs, wires, fuel filter, coil packs, some vaccuum hoses and the MAF sensor. It goes through a little oil but nothing major and runs like a scared rabbit!

    Caliper delimia

I had the same thing happen when I did the brakes on my g/f's '01. Just get a pair of pliers or needlenose and grip the 'nut' on the pin while you turn the bolt. You'll notice that it has a flat spot on each side to get a wrench on. By the way, I was surprised as well to find the dual piston...

    "Squeel" Problem in 1999 V6 5 spd

It's quite possible that the throwout bearing is starting to go out. My g/f just bought one with 75k miles on it and it squealed and made a thumping noise all the time. Is the fan belt in good shape? Squeals are annoying unless it's the tires squealing on the pavement!

    engone cleaning

Sounds like a steam cleaning would be the way to go! Then use simple green every few months to keep it clean.

    98 Mustang check engine light on.....code P0174

I had the code for both banks too lean come up on mine 2 different times and it turned out to be a vaccuum leak causing it. The hoses between the canister, manifold and purge control solenoid were leaking. One had a hole worn in it, and the other was just deteriorated. So far, so good since...

Parking brake cable Problem after solid axles swap

Sounds like the original ones are just a little too short. You might try getting the cables from a stang with a solid axle at a salvage yard and save a little cash. Dragging brakes will make the car feel less powerful.. I had a dragging rear caliper on one side and I didn't notice the...

Need help with front end drivability

It doesn't seem to have enough miles on it to need front end work. Did it start after putting on new tires, or did you replace them hoping it would improve? I've noticed that some tires will kinda dart around on grooved highways and it's annoying as hell! Did the tire shop put the right air...

question for guys with gear swapping exp!!!

I'm not sure about the play in the driveline, but if it's making some noise, especially since the gear swap, it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out by a gear shop. Are the U joints in good shape? That could make a noise if they're excessively worn. Good luck on it!

    Squeak/chirp from rear end

UPDATE! I finally got the noise to go away. The U joints the shop put in for me were faulty somehow and were causing vibration in the gearshifter as well as a choppy noise on the freeway. So I decided to go with a Ford Motorsport aluminum driveshaft. It makes the car feel lighter and...

    Help me decide!!!!

Are you going to be using it for a lot of highway driving or mainly street/strip? I'd go 3.73 if you're doing more highway driving and 4.10 if it's mainly street and strip. I have a 98 Cobra that I had 3.73 gears in and they were too steep for my liking on the highway. With higher boost it...

    Squeak/chirp from rear end

Well, I just had the U joints replaced and it still does it. The old ones weren't bad, but they weren't great either. It's not clutch, shocks or brakes. The shop had it on their lift and "drove" it. We could clearly hear the noise coming from what sounded like the rear U joint or from the...

    Squeak/chirp from rear end

There's the possibility of U joints, but the car only has 106k miles on it. The sound stays the same if the brakes are on or not. I originally thought it was the brakes cuz I had my left rear caliper sticking so I just replaced it this week. The car rolls better but the noise didn't change...

    Squeak/chirp from rear end

Hello, people! I'm a long time reader, first time writer here. Maybe someone can help figure this out! It's a chirping noise that seems to be coming from the area where the driveshaft meets the rear end. For the first mile of driving, it's quiet. Then I'll notice the chirp at around 15 mph...
