engone cleaning

wanted to really clean my 98 gt's engine up.....but only thing that looks dirty on it is the block...i tried degresser and that didnt do a think....so the parts i could get too i used i small toothbrush but wit tough wire bristles....and it worked.....but i cant get to the rest....what could i use on the rest?

Sounds like a steam cleaning would be the way to go! Then use simple green every few months to keep it clean.

gtx super clean, purple gallon container from walmart for like $6. use it full strength and u can watch the grease run off. spray it on and let it sit for like 2 min. wear a mask tho, its strong smelling

I use simple green on a warm, not hot, motor. Spray on, wait 5-10 minutes and rinse. Follow up with the armour all foamy tire dressing. Take a short drive to dry then pop the hood. You will be amazed.

^^ Do you cover anything up. Im going to do it tomorrow and was wondering if I sould cover any parts up. Or will evey thing be fine if I use the mist spray on the garden hose to lightly wash the simple green off.

ive never covered anything up and nothing bad happins. and ive done it dozens of times.

dont need to cover anything up. i personally just try not to spray the battery or alternator.

i spray the motor down w/ simple green and let sit for 10min. then, spray off w/ a hose (no pressure washer). let it dry, then wipe things off a bit and get rid of water spots. then, i spray it down really well w/ tire foam. havent had any issues on my 97GT or 00GT at all doing this
