Cold Start Issue... ACT Sensor? '89 LX 2.3L (Update: Actually Fuel Pump Fun)

After the fuel tank overstayed its welcome in the garage, I finally put it all back in the car with the new parts... Fired right up. With a little luck it won't rain through all of August and September now.

    Center Caps/Steering Wheel

Yep you're right, I was mistaken.

    Center Caps/Steering Wheel

The 10 hole wheels from the mid 80’s had machined aluminum center caps but I don’t think they are compatible, just in the way they attach to the wheel, regardless of the diameter.

Cold Start Issue... ACT Sensor? '89 LX 2.3L (Update: Actually Fuel Pump Fun)

I think the lesson is... buy a whole new tank kit with pump and hanger and sender and connectors and grommet and replace the whole dang thing if you don't want to do it twice or four times. :D

Cold Start Issue... ACT Sensor? '89 LX 2.3L (Update: Actually Fuel Pump Fun)

Yeah that's pretty much what happened here... just the intermittent contact thing had me going through everything and thoroughly scratching my head, and of course I replaced the other stuff outside of the tank not desiring to drop it again... for the extra parts I bought I could have gotten a...

Cold Start Issue... ACT Sensor? '89 LX 2.3L (Update: Actually Fuel Pump Fun)

Thought it was about time to post an update on this adventure... and the thread was not to full conclusion, not one bit. LMAO. My objectives have changed since I bought this car... the overall plan is still make it reliable before I add power, but after putting 300 miles on it, power is...

    Center Caps/Steering Wheel

Pretty sure all the steering wheels are cross-compatible, mechanically, if you don't care about making electrical connections... but might as well go straight to aftermarket if you're trying to minimalize, in my opinion. I don't think that there is an alternative to the plastic cap on the...

    Loose rockers. Silver oil.

And if it’s going to nickel and dime you to death, you might as well go out with a bang and forge and turbo it. :)

From the looks of it, it appears that you need a 351 in your life.

New sway bars. Now there is a clunk noise when turning full lock.

Yeah I didn't think to compare them... I completely ditched the old one because it's not even worth trying to sell. They seemed pretty much the same profile when they were sitting on the grass next to each other but it could be a combination of profile and diameter... but with an increase of...

New sway bars. Now there is a clunk noise when turning full lock.

Well I answered my own question. Yes the sway bar is hitting the tire, no that’s not the clunk. The clunk is due to the sway bar being off center by 1/4 inch, which is almost the entirety of the clearance between the end of the bar and the strut… so when it depresses it makes contact. I...

New sway bars. Now there is a clunk noise when turning full lock.

I just installed a set of Eibach sway bars (36/25mm) on my car last weekend and twice while driving now I’ve heard a metallic clunk while turning at full lock. I realized after doing this twice that something must not be clearing right. Has anyone ever experienced a wheel hitting the sway bar or...

Odd question - Door open chime really quiet?

Nice. I’ve got a pile of o-rings in a junk drawer but I might just try that wad of paper on the disc if I don’t have the right one. LMAO

Odd question - Door open chime really quiet?

Interesting. Thanks for the replies. That area of my car is totally exposed, haven't put the under-dash plastic back on in a while so it looks like a 2 bolt replacement... or removal. :) The quiet chime makes it feel like the battery is dying... loud or nothing would be better. lol

Odd question - Door open chime really quiet?

Just wondering if this is a common issue, or if anybody else has experienced this, but when I got my car 3 years ago the door open chime was nice and annoying as it should be, and then I did something or something broke... I can't really pinpoint it to an event, but now it is very very quiet...

The Next Warhorse: 1993 Mustang LX Autocross Build

For what it’s worth there appear to be several variants of the ranger “header”. Some are probably heavier than others. I bought the thing mainly to clean up the engine compartment cheaply… Any weight out of the front is just an added bonus.

The Next Warhorse: 1993 Mustang LX Autocross Build

Good stuff, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the zone 1 info. I just acquired a Ranger header for my car... piece one of the exhaust. Supposed to be worlds lighter than the OEM iron manifold. My car was already stripped of everything but the carpet in the trunk so I've already got zone...

Engine Help! 1980 Ford Mustang won't start, has spark

How are you giving it fuel? Just curious if you have the right fuel pressure from your source. (Or are you doing it old school pouring gas into the carb?) With spark confirmed the first thing I’d do is give it about a 3 second blast of starter fluid. Right down the throat… open the cab blades...
