    Chitty gaskets still blow out. I had/have stage 8s on mine and the gaskets that came with the headers. Blew out after 2 or 3 WOT blasts.

    I had the same problem with my '73, everybody told me to use some hi-temp red silicone (sensor safe). Sounds crazy...but it works. I made some aluminum gaskets (scram alum.), and ran a thin bead of red around the ports. Pulled up the bolts, let the silicone set up, then do a final torque...

    I read on Lucas oil's website that the fuel additive they make can double as a lead substitute. I ran it for a long time, before I rebuilt the engine, and the insides of the engine were pretty clean. But this was on a 135,000 mile cleveland, so the valves were starting to recess anyway...

    If you choose to get a R12 replacement instead of a R134A conversion, check the contents, most of that stuff is just liquid propane :O. Personally, I wouldn't want that stuff hanging on the front of the car.
